April and May are always hectic. We're doing all the things. Calving is wrapping up, as we write this we only have the last of "the lates" left. The cows get so hard to please at this time of year! All they want is head out on the range and eat all that new green grass. You can roll out your best hay and they'll still tell you they're unhappy with it. We're not done with our winter chores of checking on calves and feeding every morning, but now we're also getting the range ready for turnout. Fences need to be walked and fixed from when trees fell on them or an animal went through over the winter. At the same time irrigation pipes are coming out and the fields are getting prepped for growing next winters hay. Haley says it best - "it's April anxiety and May madness!" We love our cows, but we are so ready for turnout!
Our next delivery to the Lower Mainland is the first week of June!
