𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗸 & 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲

K’en T’em Limited Partnership’s environmental professionals are attending the Whitebark & Limber Pine Science and Management Conference in Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia, to learn about restoration practices and conservation efforts that support these important tree species.

Whitebark pine is a symbol of resilience. Growing in harsh conditions where few other trees can thrive, it provides food and shelter for wildlife, stabilizes soils, supports healthy mountain ecosystems, and helps regulate snowmelt — a reminder of how life can persist despite constant challenges.

However, whitebark pine faces growing threats, including white pine blister rust (a deadly fungal disease), mountain pine beetles, increased competition from shade-loving trees due to fire suppression, and climate change.

At K’en T’em, our connection to tmíxʷ (the land) is at the heart of everything we do. Continuing to learn, share knowledge, and support conservation is part of our commitment to caring for the ecosystems that sustain us.

Protecting whitebark pine means protecting wildlife, mountain forests, and the water we all depend on — for generations to come.
