Hey, heart-based service professionals: healers, coaches, consultants, advisors, agencies... profits and service are NOT mutually exclusive.
The reason you struggle with consistent leads, the money conversation, cash-flow… can all be tied to your belief system and twisted definitions around money and service.
I recently had this crazy empowering conversation with a client in which we dove into her money beliefs - we were looking at her business model and building out her simple one-page business plan when some interesting guilt and resistance came up.
we did some great work on this conversationally before we even got to the deep mindset work.
Even before the deeper mindset work, we had an open conversation about PROFITS. I asked her (among many other things) what profit levels she needed to generate from her business in order to create the lifestyle she wants for herself and her son.
She had never had this conversation - the P-words of Profit and Planning often don’t find their way into the conversations of service professionals - especially those who are healing/caring professionals or heart-based entrepreneurs.
Her comments - “This is the first time someone has talked to me from a profit-first model of business planning! It is a breath of fresh air to discover I can have perform this service and have a life! …and it is okay to want financial freedom.”
She had been creating a business model that sapped her energy and consumed all of her time - without thought to how long that would be okay and how to evolve her business model with the goals of time and financial freedom.
She said “I feel like you just gave me my life back!” We then were able to also open the discussion of building and protecting her income, her retirement, and her legacy - intentionally - instead of just hoping that karma would take care of these things LOL.
See, your service may be one of the ways you live your life purpose but it needs to be sustainable, to fuel your life (and your retirement) and to result in a business that loves you back.
As Brene Brown says - in order to give BIG you need Boundaries, Integrity and Generosity…. you cannot just jump straight to generosity or you ignore the reality of compassion fatigue, business burnout and real value being realized.
It is time to talk about applying the law of reciprocity in your business so that money, profit and cashflow become some of the ways that you measure your impact in the world!
If you have not embraced the Law of Reciprocity (a key to integrity) and set specific boundaries on how you work, what you don’t do, who you don’t work with, what your value is, and gotten super comfortable with having the money conversation and taking payment with joy - you need to fix this now.
If this is lighting you up with plans for a more abundant future - drop a “Hell ya!” or an emoji in the comments.
