I have a confession….

08/26/2026

I hear some version of these almost every week.

“I’m not photogenic.”

“I’ve gained weight.”

“I don’t know how to pose.”

“I haven’t had professional photos taken in years.”

“I’m nervous.”

And honestly?

**You’re not supposed to know how to do any of this.**

That’s what I’m there for.

You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.

You don’t need to know which side is your “good side.”

You don’t need to suddenly become comfortable in front of a camera.

I’ll guide you through it.

We’ll try different poses. We’ll change the light. We’ll adjust your hands, your shoulders, your chin, your expression...

And eventually, something usually happens.

You stop thinking about the camera.

You start having fun.

And that’s when we get the photographs.

So I’m curious...

**Which one of these have you actually said before having your picture taken?**

1️⃣ I’m not photogenic
2️⃣ I’ve gained weight
3️⃣ I don’t know how to pose
4️⃣ It’s been years
5️⃣ I’m nervous

Or maybe it’s **all five.** 😂

I’ve heard this probably hundreds of times over the years:

“I’m just not photogenic.”

Usually followed by:

“I hate having my picture taken.”

“I never know what to do.”

“Can you hide this?”

“I don’t look like that in real life.”

Here’s what I’ve learned after more than 25 years behind the camera:

You don’t need to know how to pose.

You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.

You don’t need to have a “photogenic” face.

And you definitely don’t need to look like a model.

That’s my job.

My job is to find the light, the angle, the expression and the version of you that you might not have seen in yourself before.

You just have to show up.

And yes... I promise I’ll tell you exactly what to do. 😉

Would you describe yourself as photogenic—or would you rather hide when someone pulls out a camera?

My beautiful friend and client Carol-Anne Schneider has built an incredibly successful business, and she’s now opening the doors to her mentorship program, Moonshot Magic Journey.

As part of the program, she’s offering an Angel Scholarship for someone who is ready to show up, do the work, and step into their next level—but for whom finances are currently the biggest obstacle.

If you’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this, I encourage you to learn more and see if it’s the right fit for you.

Learn More About the Angel Scholarship

I know this is a heavy season for so many people right now. Bills feel heavier, hope feels further away, and the dream you're carrying can start to feel like a luxury you're not allowed to want.

The flowers will fade. The brunch will be forgotten.

But a portrait of her — of the two of you — will hang on the wall for decades.

This Mother's Day, give her something she'll pass down. Classic, elegant portraits that feel as important as they truly are.

A handful of sessions remain. Send this to someone who needs to book one. 🤍

What's one thing your mom did that you didn't fully appreciate until you were older?

Drop it in the comments. I'll start: she always baked our favorite treats even when it wasn't a special occasion. Now I can't resist when she makes her traditional Portuguese cookies!

Pic of my parents from this past October celebrating 50 years of marriage🥂 and one of many birthday celebrations featuring her delicious homemade cake.

That's why I do this work. To give families the images they'll one day be so grateful to have. 🤍

Sessions still available ahead of Mother's Day — tap the link in bio.

She won't remember the perfectly clean house or the packed schedule.

She'll remember how it felt to be truly seen.

These portraits are for the moments that deserve to last forever — the quiet ones, the tender ones, the ones that say I love you without a single word.

Booking Mother's Day sessions now. Link in bio.

Not a snapshot. Not a phone camera in good lighting.

A portrait.

The kind that hangs on the wall and stops people mid-conversation. The kind she looks at years from now and thinks — yes, that was me.

Studio sessions for Mother's Day are open.
For the woman who knows the difference between ordinary and extraordinary.
She does.
Book accordingly.

13 years later and this photo still takes my breath away. A daughter. Her mom. A moment frozen in time.
