On Jan 13, 2022, Alberta’s immigration minister, Tyler Shandro, announced the Accelerated Tech Pathway. This program aims to bring technology workers to Canada to fulfill the needs of Canadian corporations.
According to the Alberta Enterprise Corporation, the province now has over 3,000 technology enterprises, an increase of 233 percent since 2012 as per the 2021 Alberta Technology Deal Flow Study.
Technology workers from across Canada and abroad can become permanent residents in as little as six months if they have a work offer in a high-demand tech industry occupation.
Tech professionals will also receive a letter of support from the Government of Alberta if they seek a work visa, in addition to priority application processing.
The Accelerated Tech Pathway application process has 3 steps
1. Create an express entry profile and apply for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). Express Entry candidates must have a job offer or be employed in a qualified occupation for an Alberta-based company to be eligible for the Accelerated Tech Pathway.
