If you are planning to study a college diploma in Canada, the rules have officially changed. Choosing a random course and hoping for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) afterward is a major risk.
The Canadian government (IRCC) has frozen the rules for 2026, and they are strictly enforcing CIP (Classification of Instructional Programs) codes for all non-degree college programs. Canada.ca
What does this mean for you? If your specific program's 6-digit CIP code does not match one of Canada's officially approved in-demand shortage fields, you will not be eligible for a PGWP when you graduate.
