🇨🇦 Statistics Canada Revises Canada’s 2025 Population Estimate

Statistics Canada has revised its 2025 population estimate, showing that Canada’s population increased by nearly 300,000, rather than declining by more than 100,000 as initially estimated.

The revision reflects improved data on temporary residents, including international students and temporary workers who remained in Canada after their permits expired.

📊 Temporary residents now account for 6.7% of Canada’s population, up from the earlier estimate of 6.1%. Their share peaked at 7.2% in 2024.

The updated figures could add further pressure to the federal government’s plan to reduce the temporary resident share to 5%.
