Without it, chaos could ensue, and conditions would be neither equitable nor productive for anyone involved. Achieving success begins with leaders exemplifying the values they want to see from others. Self-accountability is at the top of this list, as it sets a powerful example for employees and encourages them to take responsibility for their own actions.
Achieving self-accountability begins with understanding yourself - both your strengths and struggles. Take time to examine how you typically go about tasks, take note of any unhelpful patterns or habits which have crept in, and consider areas where progress can be made. Breaking old patterns and setting goals can be tough business, but once you've identified these elements of your personality it's a lot easier to stay accountable for them!
Once the passion and purpose of self-accountability are unleashed and transparent, leaders are more likely to inspire their team members to do the same. A leader who holds themselves accountable will not only be seen as trustworthy and reliable but also as someone who is willing to put in the hard work necessary for success. This creates an environment where everyone feels inspired and comfortable taking ownership of their work and being held accountable for achieving results.
