Back to our Professional Community Club!

It’s been a while since my last post! I’ve been enjoying some vacation time, catching up on work, and now it’s time to get back to our routines. 😊

I’m very happy to announce our August Professional Community Club session:

🎯 August Topic: The Selection Process: What May Influence Hiring Decisions

Getting selected for a job involves more than simply meeting the qualifications. But what factors may influence the final decision?

In this interactive 2-hour discussion, we will:

🔹 Explore the key stages of the selection process
🔹 Discuss factors that may influence hiring decisions beyond qualifications
🔹 Explore the difference between being qualified and being the right match for a specific role
🔹 Discuss real-life selection scenarios from different perspectives
🔹 Share experiences and learn from fellow professionals
🔹 Reflect on what we can take away for future career opportunities

This is not a “how to get hired” session. It’s an opportunity to better understand the selection process through shared experiences, perspectives, and discussion.

The Professional Community Club is a space for professionals, newcomers, and students to connect, learn from each other, exchange experiences, and build meaningful professional connections.

What a fantastic Sunday morning! 😊

A huge thank you to everyone who joined our Professional Community Club session on Salary, Benefits & Job Offer Negotiation. Your openness, thoughtful questions, and willingness to share experiences from different industries made the discussion incredibly engaging.

Together, we explored when negotiation makes sense, what is actually negotiable, how to know your worth, and how to have professional, respectful conversations while building positive relationships with employers. Every organization and situation is different but by learning from one another, we all left with broader perspectives and practical ideas for future opportunities.

Seeing everyone’s engagement and smiling faces at the end of the session reminded me why I started this community. Thank you all for making it such a meaningful discussion!

A special thank you to Thanh Thanh for creating an amazing reel and capturing the energy of the morning. It was wonderful reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new professionals.

Highly recommend all events and programs at Econ Dev Southeast NB / Dev écon Sud-Est NB to all professionals and job seekers.

The "Unlock Career Opportunities" panel discussion provided invaluable insights to job seekers. Lots of useful practical tips from HR leaders were so relevant. It was an excellent opportunity to meet everyone in person and expand your network too.

Our June Professional Community Club session was filled with meaningful conversations, valuable insights, and great energy from everyone who attended.

A special thank you to Thanh Thanh for participating in our mock panel interview. She handled challenging questions with confidence, professionalism, and composure. The panelists were highly engaged and asked many thoughtful follow-up questions, creating a realistic and enriching experience. If any recruiters are looking for a Marketing Specialist, Thanh (Tana) is a strong candidate with extensive experience, a collaborative mindset, and a creative approach to problem-solving.

The discussion on the unwritten rules of the Canadian workplace was equally engaging. Participants eagerly shared their experiences and perspectives on communication, feedback, professional boundaries, workplace norms, relationship building, and trust. It was a reminder that some of the most valuable career lessons are often not found in textbooks but learned through experience and shared conversations.

This session would not have been possible without the presence and contributions of our members and guests who generously shared their perspectives. Thank you Ibtissam, chị Dung (Crystal), Justice, chị Oanh, Patrick, Thanh, Thao Nguyen, Alaine, chị Lý for making the discussion so impactful.
