Last week, I had the honor of being the guest keynote speaker for the St. Andrews Chamber of Commerce.

What an incredible experience.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine kindness, hospitality, and warmth from the members of the community. It was such a pleasure to connect with so many wonderful people and be part of such a special event.

St. Andrews, you were an absolute joy. This was truly one of my favorite events, and I am leaving with a very full heart.

Earlier this week, I had the honour of attending my lifelong friend Gary’s swearing-in ceremony as a Judge of the Supreme Court of PEI and my heart is full.

I’ve known Gary since we were 14 years old, back when he patiently tutored me in math class. Watching him step into this next chapter today was incredibly special.

Gary has worked so hard to get to this moment, and it was beautiful to see his family gathered around him with so much pride. I also had the chance to reconnect with his parents and siblings, which made the day feel even more meaningful.

There is something really powerful about watching someone you’ve known for most of your life step into a role they have earned through dedication, perseverance, and character.

Congratulations, Justice Demeulenaere.

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the After Hours Member Mixer hosted by the Greater Charlottetown Chamber at Shanky’s Golf & Sports Bar.

It was a great opportunity to get out, connect with local business professionals, and support another Chamber event in our community. Networking events are always a reminder that you never know who you might meet or what conversation might spark a new opportunity.

Loved seeing this review online from my friend, Lorne!

5.0 out of 5 stars: A delightful foray into the world of debt collection

Who would have thought that the world of debt collection could be filled with excitement and adventure!

Krista Walsh's book is replete with anecdotes and wild stories about how she built her company from nothing into a prominent collection business.

Her willingness to expose her vulnerabilities and share her trials and tribulations is both refreshing and insightful.

I highly recommend this short read to anyone who needs a boost of confidence as they navigate their way through the ups and downs of starting a business.

One of the biggest surprises of my Parry Sound event was getting to work with the student production team.

I did not have a lot of experience working on an event with students, so I was not quite sure what to expect. But from the minute we got started, I was blown away by their knowledge, professionalism, and ability to handle pressure like pros.

Their walkie talkie code names alone told me I was in good hands: Alpha Dog (Noah), K-pop (Kyley), Big Poppa (Parker), Big Juice (Justin), Emmer (Emma), and Captain America (Dante). They named me Milk Crate, which felt equal parts nickname and personal branding.

We rehearsed and then rehearsed again to get everything just right, the jumps, the walk-on music, the timing, and all the dramatic effects. They were flexible, calm under pressure, and so easy to work with.

They did not just help run the event. They elevated it.

Huge credit to this incredible team. You made me look good, kept the energy high, and made me laugh the entire time.

I had such a great surprise last week while visiting Wendell Taylor’s Garage.

They had my book, Stories from a Debt Collector displayed on their shelf alongside their awards and achievements. This team has always been incredible supporters of local businesses, and it truly meant a lot to see.

A big thank you to Jeff Ford and his staff, who always go out of their way to champion other local businesses.

Last week, one of my favorite moments in Parry Sound happened before I even stepped on stage.

Before rehearsal, I met a student in the gym, and after we got chatting, I invited him to sit in the front row for my presentation. He had a cast on his wrist, so I asked how he hurt himself. His answer? Skiing.

So I jokingly asked, “Your last name isn’t Oldham, is it?”

He looked at me and said, “Yes… how did you know?!”

Parry Sound seems to have a way of producing Oldham ski stars, so I had a pretty good guess.

Later in my speech, I mentioned Cody during one of my stories:

“I was catapulted 20 feet into the air, but not like Olympic hopeful Cody Oldham… more like an awkward cow in a tornado.”

After the presentation, Cody rushed the stage, thanked me for mentioning him, and was so genuinely humble about the whole thing. I told him that meeting him had been one of the highlights of my experience.

What stood out to me most was Cody himself. He was kind, humble, respectful, and the kind of young person who leaves an impression right away.

I have no doubt he has big things ahead of him, and I cannot wait to cheer him on.

Last week in Parry Sound, I delivered the line, “I was catapulted what felt like 20 feet into the air, though definitely not like Olympic hopeful Cody Oldham… more like an awkward cow in a tornado,” and then launched myself off the stage.

Usually when I do that part, the crowd goes silent. They look concerned. One time, someone even yelled, “Call an ambulance!”

But Parry Sound? Completely different.

I was lying there in a heap, laughing and trying to pull myself together for the next very serious part, and the audience absolutely lost it.

They were cheering, laughing, and on their feet. I have never had an audience react like that before.

It was chaos. It was perfect.

And it turned into one of my favorite moments on stage.

Parry Sound, you were unforgettable.
