It's about time and disruption. How long would this actually take? What breaks during the transition? What happens to the applications that can't just be picked up and moved?

Fair questions, all of them. A phased migration to a fully managed, hosted VMware environment is built to run alongside what you already have. Workloads move in stages, not all at once. Most organizations start seeing the cost impact from the first billing cycle after cutover.

A renewal cost review usually turns up more than people expect.

We've been doing these with IT teams for a while now and the pattern is pretty consistent. The gap between what an organization is licensed for and what they're actually running tends to be the biggest surprise. Then there's the utilization gap. Then the licensing structure where minimums and bundling are inflating the number past what the environment actually needs. Then a side-by-side with the alternative model. Then the actual number.

Phil started with a customer visit in Calgary before heading to Lake Louise, where Patrick was attending Microsoft Amplify.
Adolfo was in Orlando for Omnissa ONE.
And Owen was in Milwaukee for EUC, where he had the chance to speak at the event.

Here's something we keep seeing when IT teams actually do the math.

Same workloads. Same performance requirements. The bill is just different.

We ran one of these comparisons recently and the gap came out to $62,200 a year. Same environment, same workloads, hosted and managed instead of self-run and re-licensed directly through Broadcom.

Citrix published a critical NetScaler security bulletin on Sunday, and it's one to act on.

Citrix confirmed that two of the eight vulnerabilities it covers, CVE-2026-88771 and CVE-2026-88772, are being actively exploited. The first affects every NetScaler ADC and Gateway deployment on an unpatched build, even with the default configuration. The August patches don't cover either one.

If Altanora manages your NetScalers, you don't have to chase this. We received Citrix's bulletin on Sunday, and our team is applying the fixed builds for you.

If you manage your own, here's what to do:

Save your logs before you upgrade.
Upgrade to 14.1-73.37 or 13.1-64.23. FIPS and NDcPP appliances have their own fixed builds.
Check for signs of compromise using the indicators Citrix published in NetScaler Console.
Still on 13.1? It reached End of Maintenance on September 15, so plan your move to 14.1.

Either way, keep in mind that patching blocks new attacks but doesn't tell you whether someone got in before the fix. Finding that out is a bigger job that involves Citrix and your team. If that's a concern, reach out and we'll talk it through.

That changed when Citrix closed its acquisition of Numecent, the company behind Cloudpaging and Cloudpager, at the start of September. The part worth paying attention to is that it isn't limited to virtual desktops, it works natively on physical Windows machines too, which is a real shift if application sprawl and image bloat have been a headache outside your VDI environment. The question that keeps coming up in conversations right now is a pretty simple one.

Yesterday after work, the Altanora team swapped servers for race circuits for an evening of sim racing. It was a good reminder that the people who solve problems together all week also have a lot of fun together.

Still running Windows 10 or IGEL OS 11 somewhere in your endpoint fleet?

You're not alone, and you're not out of options. Windows 10 support ended in October 2025. IGEL OS 11 maintenance ended in June 2026. Extended updates can buy time, but they don't give you a plan.
