Taharima is a multidisciplinary community builder and organiser, specialising in facilitation and training design for nonprofit and charity organisations. Born in Bangladesh, she came to Canada at the age of 3 with her family and calls Montreal her home. Taharim

a has a Masters degree in Microbiology and Infectiology from the University of Sherbrooke, where she studied the functions of HIV. After falling in love with the communications and public facing aspect of her academic work, she left research to pursue a career in the community and nonprofit sector across Montreal, in grassroots and national organisations. Taharima has built and sustained relationships in the Montreal communities where she has done consulting work for board of directors and executive staff. Today, Taharima is working with junior and senior staff members in mission-driven organisations across Canada, helping them with professional development, and with board directors as a consultant in Culture and Capacity building. Faites connaissance avec Taharima

Taharima est une organisatrice et une bâtisseuse communautaire multidisciplinaire, spécialisée dans l’animation et la conception de formations pour les organisations à but non lucratif et caritatives. Née au Bangladesh, elle est arrivée au Canada à l’âge de 3 ans avec sa famille et considère Montréal comme sa ville quasi-natale. Elle est titulaire d’une maîtrise en microbiologie et en infectiologie de l’Université de Sherbrooke, où elle a étudié les fonctions du VIH. Après être tombée amoureuse de la communication et de l’aspect public de son travail universitaire, elle a quitté la recherche pour poursuivre une carrière dans le secteur communautaire et sans but lucratif à Montréal, dans des organisations locales et nationales. Taharima a établi et maintenu des relations dans les communautés de Montréal où elle a fait du travail de consultation pour des conseils d’administration et du personnel de direction. Aujourd’hui, Taharima travaille avec des membres du personnel de premier échelon et de haute direction dans des organisations à travers le Canada, en les aidant à se développer professionnellement, et avec des membres de conseil d’administration en tant que consultante en culture et en renforcement des capacités. The distopia is not just south of the border, it's happening here in Canada. We are not the unproblematic polite cousin of the rowdy Americans, these ideologies exist in Canada, too. Turning away from issues at home and focusing on throwing stones is what makes it easier for politicians like Danielle Smith to strip away "UNALIENABLE" HUMAN RIGHTS from vulnerable trans kids instead of protecting them and investing in their futures.

Gross.

Fae is doing the work, I am always in such awe at their stamina, their perseverance and diligence to this cause. The Society of Q***r Momentum is gearing up to face this legislation coming out of Alberta and pushing back using story telling and reaching hashtag with compassion and love. Let's not kid ourselves that this is only happening in Alberta and we should let the provinces deal with their own stuff. Bigotry knows no borders. This is not an isolated incidence.

Le 3 décembre nous reconnaissons et nous célébrons la journée internationale des personnes en situation de handicap. Cette journée nous rappelle de soulever, soutenir, et centrer les personnes en situation de handicap, leurs réalités, leurs victoires et les défis qu'elles doivent surmonter pour être vues comme des personnes à part entière dans notre société.

Pour ma part, j'aimerai souligner DéfPhys Sans Limite

La semaine passée, j'ai eu l'occasion et l'honneur de présider, pour la 3e fois, l'assemblée générale annuelle cet organisme qui est proche de mon coeur.

a aussi célébré son 10e anniversaire et nous avons eu la chance de visionner un court métrage sur leur histoire d'origine qui m'a presque fait hurler tellement c'était rigolo et bien fait!

Blagues à part, la soirée a également focuser sur l'immense liste d'activités, de projets, d'engagements, de formations que réalisent ce petit organisme pour faire une très grande différence dans le monde pour l'accessibilité universelle.

Aujourd'hui je vous encourage à consacrer du temps à vous éduquer sur la réalité des personnes en situation de handicap et je vous encourage à en apprendre plus sur DéfPhys Sans Limite et je leur souhaite plusieurs dizaines d'anniversaires à venir.

Recap of a much deserved 3-week vacation in Europe with family.

Here are some shots of our time exploring France and the UK, reconnecting with family, with my little one in tow.

The ability to take this trip as a family of 3, with a toddler, safely and easily, is a privilege I do not take lightly and am so grateful for.

Let this be a gentle reminder to slow down, water our cup, and recharge so we can get right back to supporting our communities and standing in solidarity with those experiencing oppression at home and around the world.

Êtes-vous enregistré au niveau provincial? Incorporé au niveau fédéral? Peu importe, vos règlements généraux sont essentiels au bon fonctionnement et à la conformité de votre organisme.

Les règlements généraux, c'est comme une feuille de route, un guide qui explique aux membres et le personnel de votre organisme comment fonctionne votre organisme. Ce document reflète la réalité de l'organisme, ses valeurs et sa façon de faire. Les RGs nous disent ce qui est acceptable et ce qui est intolérables au sein de l'organisme et les gens qui s'y associent.

Peut-être que les vôtres sont dûs pour une mise à jour. Vous avez peut-être vécu des changements, ou vous en planifiez, qui ne sont pas représenter dans vos RGs actuels. Aucun souci, nous sommes là pour vous soutenir dans ce projet.

they participate in democratic process of one of their favourite organisations by attending the AGM with other cool people! I'm so glad I was able to exercise my right to vote and elect boardies to this awesome organisation :)

congrats to the team at Centre for Community Organizations .qc for an excellent 2024 activity report and a thoroughly educational and informative dive into NPO finance management.

congrats to the new board members who were elected last night and great job everyone who threw their hats in the race! the election was so tight with 10 amazing candidates and only 4 seats to fill.

In the NPO/charitable sector, end of fiscal year happens December 31st or March 31st, which means are just around the corner!

AGMs can be a stressful time for organizations, employees and board members. So much goes into planning and running a smooth and impactful AGM that checks all the legal and practical boxes.

With programming and services taking up so much time from the staff and board during the year, membership management and stewardship in organizations can be overlooked as a key dimensions of the organizations like that needs nurturing.
