IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING: Indigenous cannabis, governed by Indigenous Nations.

The Indigenous Cannabis Governance Authority (ICGA) https://www.icgauthority.com/ is working to unite Indigenous Nations behind a cannabis industry that is safe, trusted, and self-determined. Its approach is clear: set shared standards for safety and quality, recognize local cannabis councils that operate under community law, and support trade between Nations.

At BPS, we believe this work matters. Self-regulation will be a major focus in 2027. Nations that set their own standards now will be better placed to protect their communities, earn customer trust, and grow their economies.

That is why Stuart Lutterman, owner of BPS, is hosting a meeting with ICGA members, Indigenous communities, and dispensary owners.

What we want to accomplish:
• Learn about the ICGA’s standards and certification goals
• Talk openly about why self-regulation is the next step
• Hear what communities and dispensaries need
• Find ways to help the ICGA grow and earn wider recognition
• Agree on next steps for 2027

BPS made its way from the business world to the film set.

Last week, a film crew was busy bringing a new production to life, and we had the opportunity to see BPS featured as part of the scene. Even more special, my daughter and I got to be part of it. 🎥

From makeup and wardrobe to cameras, lighting, and everything happening behind the scenes, it was an incredible experience to see how much goes into bringing a story to life.

Sometimes, building a brand means showing up in places you never expected.

Two shops. Two Nations. One system behind the counter.

Cannabis Island sits in Akwesasne Mohawk Territory along the St. Lawrence. SLS Cannabis is on the Restigouche River in Listuguj Mi'gmaq First Nation. They're about 900 km apart, but their menus carry the same tag: "Live from BrotherPOS."

We took a closer look at both shops — what they carry, who they serve, and why a POS built for Indigenous dispensaries fits the way they actually do business. Debit that doesn't get shut off. A register that keeps ringing when the internet drops. Menus that stay accurate for customers driving an hour to get there.

The First 5 Minutes Matter ⏱️
First impressions extend beyond business.

The first five minutes of a conversation, a meeting, or a new experience can shape how we perceive someone. Not because those moments tell the whole story, but because they offer our first glimpse of the person in front of us.

Think about a job application. A resume can tell you about someone's experience, qualifications, and accomplishments. But a conversation gives you the opportunity to meet the person behind the paper. How they communicate, how they think, and what naturally comes out when they speak.

That's why first impressions matter. Not as a final judgment, but as the beginning of understanding someone.

And this extends far beyond interviews. In business, relationships, and everyday life, the way we show up and connect with others can influence what comes next.

You never know what a few minutes of genuine conversation can reveal.

Not everything has to be perfect to be meaningful.

The lessons we carry, the challenges we’ve overcome, and even the cracks we once wanted to hide can become reminders of how far we’ve come. Some of the hardest seasons leave us with perspective, valuable lessons, and a strength we didn’t know we had.

No matter where you are in your journey, it’s not about being flawless in everything, and that’s okay.

Keep learning and keep adapting. If you need to pause and regroup, give yourself the space to do so. And when you’re ready, take that next step. Rebuild, and let everything you’ve been through shape the path ahead. 💙💛
