In 2003, CoachingOurselves co-founder Phil LeNir was Director of Engineering at a high tech firm, struggling with the effects of the dot.com crash. Phil turned to Henry Mintzberg, friend and world-renowned management professor and author from McGill University. Henry’s suggestion was simple: Phil should get his team together to reflect on their day-to-day experiences guided by management theory. Phil started holding regular team meetings where they would learn from each other and coach themselves. These 90-minute sessions were guided by materials written by Henry and his business school colleagues. This had an immediate tangible impact on Phil and his team. In 2007, Henry and Phil launched
CoachingOurselves. CoachingOurselves programs are now used by over 15,000 managers in 8 languages around the world.
