Nous allons forer une section non exploitée du gisement historique d’or placérien que la Beauce Placer Mining Company prévoyait exploiter dans les années 1960. In 2021, Beauce Gold Fields acquired 344 previously unpublished historical overburden drill logs from the Beauce Placer Mining operations of the 1950s and 1960s—records that had been missing from the geological picture for decades.

The analysis of these historic drill records, combined with new exploration data and geological modelling, led BGF to reevaluate the potential of the Saint-Simon-les-Mines paleoplacer channel.

Old records.

New data.

A new understanding of one of Canada’s most historic gold districts.

Un témoignage fascinant de l’histoire minière du Québec.

Prise en 1863 à Saint-Simon-les-Mines, cette photo serait l’une des plus anciennes images connues d’une mine d’or au Canada. Elle illustre les débuts de ce qui est reconnu comme le site de la première ruée vers l’or au Canada.

Aujourd’hui, Champs d’Or en Beauce (TSX-V : BGF) poursuit l’exploration de ce secteur historique. Lors de travaux de préparation sur le terrain, la Société a d’ailleurs localisé des puits miniers historiques du 19e siècle correspondant au secteur aurifère du lot 14 De Léry.

Why can phosphate exploration be very different from gold exploration?

It starts with one important factor: surface exposure.

For a potential phosphate deposit, economics generally favour mineralization that occurs at or near surface.
That means exploration can focus heavily on identifying outcrops and near-surface mineralized zones.

And if a deposit ultimately proves economically viable, the development model can potentially resemble a quarry rather than a deep underground mining operation.

What does an 88% drill-hole hit ratio actually mean?

For an early-stage gold exploration project, hitting gold in 20–40% of drill holes is typical. Above 50% is already highly successful.

At Beauce Gold Fields’ Grondin target, 14 of 16 drill holes returned elevated gold anomalies of 300 ppb or more, with results reaching up to 11 g/t gold.

That works out to an 88% hit ratio.
