Since 2004, Julie Lakis has contributed to several urban planning and landscape architecture projects for First Nations groups in Northern Quebec, namely, the Cree Nations in the James Bay Region of Northern Quebec. She also earned a master’s degree in Environmental Studies, specializing in Urban Planning, from York University in Toronto. She has 14 years of experience in various fields ranging fr
om building architecture to urban planning. Lakis was an Urban Planner at Stantec for 13 years. Presently, Julie is the principle and founder of the firm Julie Lakis Urbaniste inc. Since 2004, she has contributed to several urban planning and landscape architecture projects for First Nations groups in Northern Quebec, namely, the Cree Nations in the James Bay Region of Northern Quebec. One of her key functions is produce master plans for the Cree Nation, five-year capital plans and detailed development plans. She has travelled extensively throughout all the Cree communities, carrying out mandates ranging from community development plans to the planning of new residential neighborhoods, concept plans for town centre developments in the central areas of the communities, landscaping plans for lakeshore sites and recreational areas, conceptual planning and project co-ordination for Landscaping projects. Recently, she has started working with the Cree Nations to develop planning regulations such as zoning by-laws and land use by-laws. Lakis assisted A. Stephan Moss in his initial efforts to structure and open the Quebec office of Groupe dE Mossi in Montreal. She acts as the financial administrator and she works with Mr. Moss in developing the designs and creative aspects of Groupe dE Mossi. Their chemistry is manifested in the company’s projects from initial concept to market introduction. Lakis background as an urban planner allows her to coordinate the diverse components of Groupe dE Mossi; in the same way a planner coordinates the engineers and architects involved in a project. She is the glue that binds the various components of Groupe dE Mossi/ Writeous Arsenal Records.
