When an AI agent goes quiet for 30 seconds, every user thinks the same thing: did it work, or did it hallucinate?

That anxiety pushes designers toward two extremes. Hide everything and keep it simple. Or stream every log and API call so users can see it all.

Neither works.

The black box leaves users feeling powerless. The data dump creates noise so constant that urgent alerts get buried in routine ones. The answer isn't more transparency or less, it's the right transparency at the right moment.
