Ross Smith Center of Balance Horseshoeing

Ross Smith Center of Balance Horseshoeing Center of Balance Horseshoeing is a method of trimming or shoeing that is guided by the COBIT

The Center of Balance Indicating Tool was invented by Ross Smith of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Ross teaches the center of balance horse shoeing method and continues to offer COBIT demonstrations & clinics. The COBIT is a tool that finds the center of balance on a horse's foot. The measurements on the COBIT allow the user to find the optimum breakover point and placement of the buttress of the heel.

The COBIT is an easy straight forward tool that farriers, veterinarians, horse owners, and equine practitioners can use to aid them in keeping horses sound. The COBIT may benefit horses affected by navicular, ring bone, tendon & ligament issues, arthritis, long tow low heel syndrome, laminitis, and caudal heel pain. I have been feeling extra tired lately so I took some vitamin B12 yesterday. I sure felt a lot more energetic, but I think it must have clouded my judgment. I took some pictures of the last horse I shod yesterday . Looking at the pictures I realized I put the shoes on backwards. If you think these pictures are confusing you ought to see the tracks this horse leaves.
