🔥 Community Helping Community! 🔥

Today, Ryan Burton of Salmon Cove/Perrys Cove Fire Department dropped by to pick up two new Dräger Fire SCBA sets, and we presented the department with a donation of $2,100. 👨‍🚒💪

Throughout August and September, we raised $6,300 for the fire departments in Conception Bay North, to assist them with their wildfire recovery efforts.

These funds came from the sale of our ABC powder fire extinguisher bottles for ATVs — every bottle you bought helped make a real difference!

Thank-you to everyone who supported this initiative. Together, we’re keeping our towns, trails, and forests safer! ❤️🔥

🔥 Community Helping Community! 🔥

We’re excited to share some amazing news! Thanks to your support, Martin’s Fire Safety raised $6,300 for fire departments in the Conception Bay North area to help with their wildfire recovery efforts. 🙌

These funds came directly from the sale of our ABC powder fire extinguisher bottles for ATVs — every bottle you bought helped make a real difference!

From those funds, our first donation was 10 pails of firefighting foam to the Victoria Volunteer Fire Department to help boost their firefighting readiness. 👨‍🚒💪

A huge thank-you to everyone who supported this cause. Your generosity and community spirit truly shine. Together, we’re keeping our towns, trails, and forests safer! ❤️🔥

I want to extend my deepest gratitude and admiration to the volunteer fire departments who tirelessly battled the wildland fire on the north shore for two grueling days. Crews even spent an overnight shift on defence.

When our crew arrived, it felt like stepping into a dramatic movie scene—an overwhelming mix of urgency, danger, and determination. The dedication and perseverance of those involved, despite the immense challenges, were truly inspiring.

The sight of panicked bystanders fleeing, begging, "Save my house," while thick smoke and towering flames consumed the landscape is something that will stay with me forever.

My thoughts are with all the families displaced and affected by this tragic event. May they find comfort and support as they navigate the aftermath.

Be fire safe this winter! If you have a fireplace in your home, here are some tips to ensure your safety this snowy season:

- If you have a chimney, ensure it is cleaned and inspected every year by a qualified professional.
- Make sure the fireplace has a sturdy screen in place to stop sparks from flying into the room. Ashes should be cool before putting them in a metal container. Keep the container a safe distance from your home.
- Test smoke alarms at least once a month.
- All fuel burning equipment should be properly vented to the outside to avoid Carbon Monoxide poisoning. After a snow storm or big snowfall, be sure to clean out those vents!

Half of home heating fires are reported during the months of December, January and February. Don’t be one of them!

Be fire safe this winter! It’s important to have multiple exits available in the event of a fire. Homeowners and landlords should ensure a minimum of two (or more) exits from the structure are cleared and ready, all winter long.

If your home or rental has more than one story, a ladder on the second or third floors would be advisable. Each room and hallway should have a smoke alarm for early detection.

Finally, make sure you have a plan of escape and practice it with your family and pets!
