Did you know that 70% of energy use in B.C. depends on fossil fuels? But that the 20% that comes from BC Hydro is considered almost entirely clean? If your Nation wants to get involved in clean energy production to sell to the grid, we are facilitating engagement about new funding to support First Nations to develop smaller energy projects (less than 15 MW) to sell to the grid. Why get involved? Because it can provide lower risk opportunities to make money and ensure that energy production in this province is done in a clean and sustainable way.
On June 11th, we'll host 2 sessions. One will focus on the details of how projects will be supported (e.g., funding models, proportion of costs covered, etc.) and the second session will focus on ensuring that the program is rolled out in an equitable way across First Nations communities. Michelle Corfield facilitated a very important discussion today at the Generate '24 conference in Vancouver about new BCICEI funding for First Nations' green energy projects. Almost 100 people attended the session with standing room only!

We're leading engagement, starting in-person this Friday in Vancouver at Generate, then we'll support 4 virtual sessions in the coming weeks.
