🔧 SUNDAY SERVICE → BACK ON THE ROAD MONDAY! 🔧

It was a busy start to the week at Nanaimo Auto Care & Towing with two alternator jobs and a fuel pump job coming through the shop.

What makes these jobs a little different? We answered the calls, accepted the vehicles and started looking at them on Sunday, when finding an open automotive shop or towing service can be extremely difficult.

Parts were ordered, arrived Monday, and we got to work.

🚗 Vehicle #1:
Came in with a check engine light, low battery voltage and no power steering. After diagnosing the charging system, we found the alternator wasn’t charging properly. The low voltage was causing issues with the electric power steering. New alternator installed Monday and the customer is back on the road!

🚙 Vehicle #2:
Was brought in not running with a dead battery. After diagnosis, we traced the no-start problem to a failed fuel pump. Parts arrived Monday, the repair was completed, and another customer is back on the road!

⚡ We also had a second alternator replacement completed today.

We know breakdowns don’t only happen Monday to Friday. Being able to answer the phone, accept vehicles and diagnose problems on a Sunday means we can have parts lined up and get repairs underway as soon as possible.

🔧 Another Electrical Issue Diagnosed & Fixed! 💡🚗

This vehicle was referred to us by another automotive shop after they ran into a lighting/electrical issue that needed some further diagnosis.

When it arrived, the brake lights and reverse lights were the ONLY exterior lights working.

❌ No headlights — high or low beam
❌ No running/parking lights
❌ No fog lights
❌ No licence plate lights

We got it into the shop and started tracing the problem, checking the fuses, bulbs, relays and electrical circuits to figure out where power was being lost.

After diagnosing the issue, we were able to get the lighting system back up and running again. 💡✅

We appreciate other local shops trusting us with their customers when they need an extra hand diagnosing an electrical problem.

Not every vehicle repair is planned. This week, we had several last-minute walk-ins that needed immediate attention, and our team was ready to help get everyone safely back on the road.

Here’s a few of the repairs we’ve completed recently:

✅ Replaced a missing master cylinder reservoir cap to restore safe braking operation
✅ Diagnosed and repaired an overheating vehicle that was towed into our shop. We found a failed belt, tensioner, and pulleys, replaced the worn components, and had the customer back on the road safely.

Recently our team was called out to assist with transporting a truck and trailer from Cameron Lake near Port Alberni back to Nanaimo.

This Chevy Venture came in with a leaking brake line that needed immediate attention. Brake issues are never something to ignore, especially on Vancouver Island roads and highway driving.

While the van was in the shop, the customer also stopped by with a fresh set of rims and Michelin tires and we got those mounted and installed as well 👌

🚨 Busy day at TALO Towing & Auto Care 🚨

The crew has been running hard today between roadside calls, towing, diagnostics, and repairs keeping customers safely back on the road across Nanaimo and Vancouver Island.

One of today’s calls was a Ford Edge that was running rough, stalling, and barely staying running. After diagnosing the issue, we found a faulty MAF sensor along with a severely chewed through air filter causing major airflow problems. Once repaired, the SUV was back running properly and the customer left extremely happy. 🔧

We also had a Volkswagen Jetta come into the shop with a misfire, catalytic converter code, rough idle, and almost no power going uphill. After inspection and diagnostics, worn spark plugs were found to be causing the issue. Once repaired, the Jetta was running smooth again with proper power restored. 🚗💨

From towing vehicles off the road to diagnosing and repairing them in the shop, we take pride in being able to handle the full process for our customers.
