In celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day we invite you to join Autonomous Sinixt and allies at nk̓ʕáwxtən (the Vallican camp) anytime before 5pm on June 21, 2022.

This is an opportunity to visit nk̓ʕáwxtən and say hello to Sinixt matriarch Marilyn James and her family. Please bring your own snacks/lunch or food to share. This is an open invitation that can be shared widely.

We are choosing to celebrate being Indigenous People today and everyday by spending time on the land in our təmxʷúlaʔxʷ (homeland) close to the water and our ancestors.

Today, we would like to remind you of the Sinixt law Whuplakn. Whuplakn is the Law of the Land. Whuplakn encompasses all living beings within our təmxʷúlaʔxʷ both animate and inanimate. Under Whuplakn Sinixt Peoples are responsible for ensuring that whatever is here remains here. Our responsibility is to be respectful, protect and to speak up on behalf of everything. Above all Sinixt Peoples are bound to live within this law spiritually, culturally and physically as our life's purpose.

Whether you can join us or not, we encourage you to learn about the people whose land you live on and take the time to acknowledge, understand and respect the laws they uphold.

For adoption through KAAP!

Kona, also lovingly known as Piglet, is like most Boston Terriers - Full of personality! She might have springs in her paws the way she can jump. She is a high energy girl but also enjoys giving kisses and cuddling, and prefers to have her own blanket so she can burrow underneath. She currently lives and gets along with three dogs in her foster home but has shown some dog selection. Piglets ideal home would be an active person or couple with no other dogs. Her spirited personality and hilarious antics will keep you entertained every day

The adoption fee for Kona is $400. She has been recently spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped. If you are interested in adopting Kona, please click the link below to reach the application form. KAAP adoptions include a reference check and home visit to ensure our dogs are going to the very best homes. Due to this, we will be accepting applications from the West Kootenay region only. We reserve the right to select, in our view, the applicant that is the best match; not first come/first served. Completed applications are required to meet Kona in her foster home.
