I recently purchased many pieces from the Leith residence. When I entered the residence I became very overwhelmed with its contents, appearance and smell but at the same time my curiosity set in and I wanted to explore every nook and cranny. To say the least I was instantly hooked looking at Bill’s pieces and wondering about his life, which I will share in future posts. This is #1 of the “Leith collection”…an eastlake washstand born somewhere between the late 18th century-early 19th century. This well crafted washstand did not need any repairs just an abundance of love and attention. Every inch of him has been washed several times and sealed. His black stain was chemically stripped, hardware polished, sanded, hydrated, washed in a black paint but still revealing beautiful wood grain. The perfect piece for a bathroom, nightstand, hall entry way and has plenty of storage space.
