In recognition of National Emergency Preparedness Week, we’re proud to spotlight an employee whose commitment to emergency preparedness is second nature – Scott G.

As a firefighter/EMT by training, Scott comes from a long line of emergency responders and is passionate about helping teams feel confident, capable and prepared when it matters most.

In his role as Enterprise Process Lead, he supports emergency preparedness across the enterprise, helping strengthen organizational readiness. He’s also certified to instruct a range of emergency response training programs and supports delivery of Incident Command System (ICS) training.

Outside of work, Scott’s dedication to emergency services has taken him to the national stage, appearing on Season 4 of Chopped Canada during a special firefighter edition.

We’re fortunate to have passionate professionals like Scott who are committed to Suncor’s resilience and success.

On this , we commemorate the 144 workers lost through work-related injury or illness in 2025.
We recognize the deep and lasting impact these losses have on families, friends, colleagues, and communities—forever changing lives.

At AMSA, this day is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Every training session, every exercise, and every response is rooted in one goal: ensuring workers return home safely at the end of every shift.

We stand alongside our members and the mining community in honoring those lost, while recommitting ourselves to prevention, preparedness, and a strong safety culture across our industry. Through ongoing Significant Incident and Fatality (SIF) research and review, we continue working to better understand these events and help prevent them from happening again.

Today, we remember. We reflect. And we renew our commitment to protecting every worker, every day.
