The Checkers vs Chess Mentality:
Thinking ahead is obviously a big factor that separates successful and unsuccessful businesses. From a marketing perspective, it's mostly tied to risk tolerance.
π€¦πΌββοΈ Checkers mentality - only thinking of the up-front cost, and ignoring the fact that being overly risk-averse is what got you in a low-revenue cycle of paralysis in the first place.

οΈ Chess mentality - realizing that while you have to sacrifice in the short-term - you'll have more breathing room for it in the future - and saying "no" to a 1:12.5 Risk/Reward Ratio is mathmatically insane.
