🚨 Ontario confirmed today (May 29) amendments to the regulation governing the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), marking the beginning of the program's redesign.
Among the changes, the section of the regulation that listed the currently known OINP streams has been repealed, including categories such as Human Capital Priorities, International Student, Foreign Worker, Master's Graduate, PhD Graduate, Skilled Trades, and others.
But here's an important clarification: this does NOT mean these streams have been terminated.
What has changed is the way they are referenced in the legislation. The new wording adopts a broader approach, allowing the Government of Ontario greater flexibility in organizing and administering immigration categories.
In practice, this could make it easier for the province to introduce future changes to eligibility criteria, categories, invitations, and program processes.
Ontario has stated that these amendments are intended to prepare for the redesign of the OINP, and additional updates are expected to be announced in the future.
Important: applications submitted under the current framework will continue to be assessed according to the eligibility requirements in place at the time of application.
If you are planning to immigrate through Ontario or already have an active OINP profile, now is the time to closely monitor upcoming announcements.
