Two years ago this week, a fire burned through our young Echalas vineyard.
A lot of work has gone into restoring this special plot over the last 2 years. We’ve replaced trellis posts, installed new irrigation, retrained surviving vines, and replanted those vines that were lost.
And the really exciting news?
Last September, we harvested the first crop of Syrah from the Echalas (from the vines that didn’t burn!). The wine is now resting in barrel, and the early feedback from club members and friends who have tasted it has us excited about what this site is becoming.
There’s still a lot of work ahead to fully restore this part of the vineyard, but the future looks bright.
Looking back, we’re filled with gratitude.
Grateful for the firefighters, neighbours, friends, and family who helped us through those difficult days.
Grateful for the support we received in the weeks and months that followed.
And grateful for everyone who continues to support our little winery and follow along on this journey.
Thank you.
