Keep a basket with some wrapping paper near your tree so it’s easy to wrap when you come home from shopping. I keep gift tags, scissors, and tape in there so it’s easy to find everything and easy to put it all back when I’m done.

We packed up the decorations today. I always have mixed feelings taking it down because I love it all so much, but at the same time, I love having it back to clean and simple. I always take everything down New Year’s Day, it feels like such a good way to start the year!

I finally finished my wrapping! I’m usually done way earlier, but I’ve had kids home from school for over a month now, so there’s been a little less opportunity. I finally just pulled everything out and made my kids announce themselves before they came in... not ideal, but it’s done! I still have gifts hidden, but the kids are so excited to have a few more under the tree. I store my wrapping paper in sturdy garment bags with a solid wooden hanger and hang them in the back of a closet. I keep Christmas together in one (well, two, let’s be honest, I’m a bit of a wrapping paper hoarder 😁) and birthday in another. This makes it so easy to just pull out the bag and throw everything back in when I’m done. I also keep all my bows, ribbons, tags, and tape in one container, so again, super easy to pull out, super easy to put away!

I always start my Christmas decorating early, and I’ve always done EVERYTHING in one weekend. It’s total chaos and I usually skip out on some of the decor by the end because I’m tired of it. This year I just wasn’t quite ready for the tree yet, so I’m decorating in stages and I think I like it better, so much less overwhelming! We always put our Nativity up first to remind our children why we’re celebrating. This is my first year having it down low... where my children could possibly break it 😬. Branson told Maci this morning that she’s been dancing too close to it and needs to stop flailing her arms around it 😄. I love Christmas so much and I want to enjoy every minute of it, so getting everything done early (including gift buying), makes for a much more enjoyable, relaxing season!

What are you doing to keep your kids masks organized? My oldest is wearing adult sized masks my next two boys can wear the same ones (but have their own) and my daughter doesn’t want to wear “boy masks”, so it was easiest to just keep them separated. I bought this container at Walmart and it’s perfect for keeping everything organized. I keep it in my front coat closet and in the morning one of the kids grabs it out and puts it on the front entry table. They all just grab one as they walk out the door and it’s easy for them to make sure they have the right one. I just put it back into the closet after they’re gone so it’s not such an eye sore! What are you doing with yours?

If you saw my earlier post, you saw the mess I had today while sorting through all my kids school stuff. So I went through all the loose papers, figured out what I could throw away and what I needed to keep. I put all the math sheets or any incomplete sheets (things that would be quick and easy to pull out and have them work on), into a duotang I had designated for each child and then put them into a magazine holder. I also put a bunch of loose leaf paper in there so that they can easily find some if they need it. I put the holder onto my bookshelf in my office so that my kids or I, can easily grab it when it’s time to do school work and then the rest of their things I put neatly back into their backpacks, in hopes that they will be going back to school this year 🤞. That way if they need anything else, it’ll be easy for them to find and they can just pull out their packs and then put them away when they’re done. One week of isolation down... 20 more to go??? 😭😭😭

Well, I wasn’t mentally prepared to have to go through all my kids school stuff quite so soon! I’m SO hopeful that they go back, so the fun part is trying to figure out what I need to keep and what I need to get rid of. On a positive note, we finally have SO much time to organize 😄.

S U M M E R H O L I D A Y S!! Today is our first full day and we’re pretty excited! This morning I called all my kids to the living room and told them how much fun we’re going to have this summer, as I handed them each a list in a plastic page protector. They looked at it thinking it was something great, read the first line, and all looked at me and started to laugh. They might know me too well! Then I started to explain myself. While the list looks long to them, I broke it down, and really these things shouldn’t take more than 15-20 minutes to complete. If their room is tidied everyday, it should take less than a minute to do. The extra chore is like unloading the dishwasher, sweeping the floor, things like that. Then I explained that if these things are done right away in the morning, that opens us up for so much fun all summer. When friends come to play, we want to go somewhere fun, or we want friends over, they’ll be ready to go because they will have already done what they needed to do for the day. I also reminded them that I’m not a happy mama if I’m cleaning up after them all day or if our house is crazy, and an angry mom does not want to take them to do fun things! Here’s to hoping summer goes smoothly!

How was your Fathers Day?? I have the hardest time figuring out gifts for my husband, usually he finds something he wants and says, “you can get me this for Fathers Day”, and I tell him to order it. Super Romantic! A few weeks ago he pulled me over to his backpacking gear and asked me if I could figure out a way to make it easier to find things, so it was perfect timing to organize it for his Father’s Day gift! We’ve been camping a couple times already this year, so as you can see, things have been pulled out and a mess has been made just trying to find things. Everything was sorted and labelled, some things hung, and now he can easily find everything he needs.

A lot of times people think that because I’m an organizer, all of my spaces are perfectly clean and put together at all times. Well life happens and sometimes things get thrown somewhere quickly with the intention of putting it away later.... and then a couple months go by and this happens.

I don’t think it’s realistic to think that we’re always going to have every space looking picture perfect, and let’s be honest, if it is, how much time are we spending in a day working on it? For me the greatest thing about being organized is that when it is a mess, it’s SO quick to clean up because everything has its place. I walked into my storage room this weekend and was like, “what happened here??” But because I had the basics done and for the most part, it was pretty organized, I was able to get it back to order in less than 15 minutes. Just remember that while it feels like it takes forever to get a space organized the first time around, it will make it so much quicker and easier every time after that. “For every minute spent in organizing, an hour is earned” ~ Benjamin Franklin

So I cleaned out my fridge last week and finally went and bought some containers to keep things organized. I waited a week to post because I wanted to actually see how it went. I wasn’t sure if I was actually going to like the containers or if they were going to be a pain trying to put things back in. So a week later, I’m loving them! It’s stayed clean because I can see where everything should go, I’ve put things right back to where they were because everything has its place. It also makes it easier to see my leftovers because they sit out front and don’t get shoved to the back behind all the commonly used items. The second picture is my fridge today. Not after a good clean, so there’s leftovers, and things have been rearranged, but for the most part, my whole family has been able to maintain its cleanliness!
