We are happy to share that $3,500 has been raised for the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen’s Evacuee Relief Fund, in support of those impacted by the Bald Range Fire in Summerland.

This donation was made possible through fundraising efforts at both Burrowing Owl Estate Winery and Wild Goose Winery, and most importantly, through the generosity of everyone who took part.

To each person who visited, donated and helped us give back, thank you. It means so much to see our community rally around those who have been affected.

Your generosity is a meaningful reminder of the strength and care within our South Okanagan community.

ASK THE OWL | THE ANSWER 🦉

We asked: Where do Burrowing Owls make their homes?

The answer: In burrows! Unlike most owls, Burrowing Owls spend much of their time on the ground and make their homes in underground burrows, often ones originally created by other animals.

Lauren Meads from the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society of BC shares the answer and a little more about these incredible birds and the society.

And of course, congratulations to our Ask the Owl winner! Thank you to everyone who entered and helped us spread a little more awareness about Burrowing Owls and their conservation.

Our hearts are with our neighbours in Summerland and Peachland, and with everyone impacted by the recent wildfires. We’re thinking of the families who have been displaced, those facing uncertainty, and the firefighters and emergency crews working tirelessly to protect our communities.

This weekend at Burrowing Owl, we’re coming together to support those affected in two ways:

🦪 Saturday, August 15 | Oysters + Live Music at the Sonora Room
Join us from 1:00–4:00 PM for oysters on the half shell (while supplies last) and live music.

In support of our local farming community, 25% of food sales from the event will be donated to WTFungus and LocalMotive Okanagan—two Summerland farms we’re proud to partner with that have been impacted by the wildfires.

🍷 Friday, August 14–Sunday, August 16 | Taste Wine & Support Wildfire Relief
Throughout the weekend, 100% of tasting fees collected in the Burrowing Owl Wine Shop will be donated to the Community Foundation South Okanagan Similkameen’s SOS Wildfire Response Fund, helping support those impacted by the fires.

And we want to do even more. Burrowing Owl will match donations made by our guests, up to a total of $2,500.

Come by, taste some wine, enjoy an afternoon at the Sonora Room, and help us support our neighbours and local partners when they need it most.

To our friends and neighbours in Summerland and Peachland: we’re thinking of you and wishing you safety in the days ahead.
