An award winning winery and estate vineyard located in the “Golden Mile Drive” area of Oliver, BC Canada. With a hands-on approach, family owner-operators facilitate every step of the process, from grape to glass, handcrafting wines from 100% South O

kanagan Valley, BC grown grapes. Producing an array of fine wines every year; white, rosé and red, single varietal and blends. Available in traditional bottles and also select wines available in 250ml SINGLE SERVE cans!! The wine shop is a modest building but the atmosphere is fun, warm and welcoming. If you haven’t been to this winery recently be sure to stop in to taste the new wines every few months. This winery and wine shop has been open and serving guests since 2006. Children and LEASHED pet friendly, of course they are not served wines, but they are often offered a different treat. We have a lovely little picnic area available where you can enjoy sharing a bottle of our wine with friends, or you may purchase a glass of wine for a very reasonable price. Our customers are also provided free use of the BBQ, if you wish to bring a lunch, and free WIFI. LEASHED pets are welcome to enjoy the Picnic Area as well, or we have a safe space where dogs can be leashed in (longer leads provided) that is a grassy area which is shaded and visible from the wine shop so you can keep an eye on your furry friend. Grape varietals planted include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Vidal and Siegfried from which we produce about 12 small-batch handcrafted wines each year. All of the grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted for the best quality. The 8-acre Vineyard was planted in 1980-1981, which makes it one of the oldest in the area. Our vineyard’s location in the famed “Golden Mile” alluvial soil deposit and southeast aspect with excellent exposure to sunshine, results in full flavour and aroma development. The vineyard slope keeps the vines safe from late spring or early fall frost problems, allowing the grapes to ripen fully. The vines are planted to the foot of a mountain, which provides evening shade, resulting in a rapid cool-off during summer, which prevents the grape acids from dropping and results in a fine balance between ripe, sweet fruit and firm, clean acidity. Castoro de Oro Estate Winery’s name and label pays homage to its vineyard’s terroir and the founding of Canada. The old vines (planted in 1980), eight-acre vineyard is located on the Golden Mile and blessed with a unique soil combination and a small lake located at the base of it. This terroir provides an ideal foundation for growing superior grapes and a longer growing season than many other Golden Mile vineyards. Beavers helped to create the small lake during their manipulation of earth and water. And early settlers’ search for gold led to the beavers’ vast contribution to the history of the nation; the then-booming fashion industry’s need for beaver felt and fur ultimately allowed settlers to thrive, formally establish the country, and choose the beaver as Canada’s national animal. Now, deservedly so, the dapper mascot appears on every old-photograph styled label.

It's a sad goodbye to our walnut tree today. The 2024 killer cold snap did a lot of structural damage. Several branches have fallen, and two weeks ago we had very high winds that downed a large branch that nearly came down on our house. It will be weird driving up to our house and wine shop and and not seeing that tree. The squirrels and birds will miss it also. We did start a new tree from a walnut seed. It’s about 1 foot tall. Think we'll find a good spot to plant it, and keep the “family tree” growing! Bye bye walnut tree, you provided us, and many of our customers, with some beautiful walnuts. 😭

MARKED SAFE, from Wildfires! We are not in any of the affected areas; however we are still being majorly impacted. Smoky, hazy skies and now the BC state of emergency have decimated the wine tourist numbers, so our wine shop business is almost completely stopped. This is the time of year that small family owned wineries depend upon to make retail sales to consumers. So if you are local, come to support us, and if you are not local but could order wine to be shipped to your business or to your home please support the smaller family owned wineries, by placing an order!

Like many people, we’ve been keeping a close eye on the wildfires in B.C. and the one in Northern Washington State, especially the fire in and around Summerland/Peachland.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has had to leave their home, vineyard, business, animals, or equipment behind.

We send a huge thank you to the firefighters, first responders and volunteers who are working long hours to protect our communities.
