This is actually a powerful conversation because it exposes a major gap in how many systems think.

The reality is that addiction services, victim services, crisis teams, and emergency supports are important. Communities need them. People in crisis deserve support and care.

But the uncomfortable truth is this:

If all we do is invest in crisis response, we become very good at responding to problems after they happen and very poor at preventing them from happening in the first place.

A person working in a reactive system should absolutely want fewer people needing their services. That should be the goal.

Not because their job doesn’t matter.

Because success should be measured by fewer people suffering, not by keeping programs full.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation for their support in helping make the Men & Young Men’s Wellness & Healing Summit a success.

This support helped create a space where men and young men could gather, reflect, listen, share, and begin important conversations around healing, identity, accountability, trauma, leadership, family, and moving forward in a healthier way.

Over the course of the summit, we witnessed the need for this work firsthand. Men and young men showed up, participated, listened, shared their lived experiences, and reminded us why prevention-focused wellness programming matters in our communities.

This work is about more than one event. It is about creating safe, culturally grounded spaces where men and young men can be reminded that they matter, that healing is possible, and that they have an important role in building healthier families and safer communities.

We are thankful to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation for believing in this work and supporting the vision. We look forward to future opportunities, continued partnership, and securing additional funding pathways that allow this work to reach more communities across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and beyond.

When we work together, share resources, and invest in prevention, we create stronger pathways forward for our men, youth, families, and communities.

Thank you for standing with us and helping make this gathering possible.

Too many communities are still reacting after tragedy instead of investing in prevention before crisis happens.

When men continue struggling in silence, we need to ask harder questions.

Are we creating real opportunities for connection, mentorship, accountability, and support?

Or are we simply repeating the same approaches and expecting different outcomes?

Men’s wellness is not just an individual issue. It affects families, communities, and future generations. Prevention-focused, long-term support is needed now more than ever. Supporting men and young men through culturally grounded, preventative programming is a core part of addressing these gaps.

What do you think is missing most in your community right now?

As always thanks for watching and follow for more grounded conversations about men’s wellness and leadership.

During the men and young men’s wellness, over the course of two days. We collected 44 participant evaluations and feedback forms from the Men & Young Men’s Wellness & Healing Summit.

The results show a strong and meaningful response from participants.

Some of the highest-rated areas included:

• Interest in Future Programming: 4.8 / 5
• Workshop Quality: 4.7 / 5
• Relevance to Daily Life: 4.7 / 5
• Cultural Safety and Connection: 4.6 / 5
• Overall Summit Experience: 4.6 / 5

This feedback tells us that men and young men are looking for spaces where they can talk about healing, accountability, leadership, healthy relationships, culture, identity, and next steps moving forward.

It also tells us where we can improve. Transportation and accessibility received the lowest rating at 3.8 / 5, which gives us a clear area to strengthen in future planning.

We are currently finalizing the full report, including participant feedback, data results, key outcomes, photos, recommendations, and expenditure costs.

If your organization, leadership team, Chief and Council, board, or community program would like a copy of the final report once completed, please reach out. I would be happy to share it.

This work matters. The feedback shows that culturally grounded men’s wellness programming is needed, valued, and worth continuing.

The future of our communities depends on the health of our people.

For too long, many men have carried pain, trauma, grief, addiction, anger, and disconnection in silence.

Healing is not weakness.
Healing is leadership.

When men heal, families become stronger.
When families become stronger, communities become healthier.
