Nothing beats the taste of home-grown tomatoes! 🍅☀️
Alhamdulillah our backyard gave us so many this season that I had to find ways to preserve them — because I just hate waste!
Here are 3 easy ways I preserve them, you can try too:
*1. Tomato Puree (for salan all year):*
Wash, cut in half, boil for 10 mins. Blend, strain, then cook again till thick. Let it cool, pour into ice-cube trays or small jars and freeze. So easy for quick curries in winter!
*2. Home-made Ketchup (kids' favourite):*
Puree + little vinegar, brown sugar, salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Cook on low till thick. No chemicals, no preservatives, just pure goodness. My kids love it with nuggets!
*3. Sun-dried / Frozen Whole Tomatoes:*
Just wash, dry, cut and freeze whole in zip-lock bags. Perfect for chutneys and soups. You can also sun-dry with a little salt if you have good sun.
The barakah of home-grown food is something else, wallah. A little mehnat now, and sukoon for months, InshaAllah. 💛
