This lakeside property is located on 1,200 acres of band land located in the town of Osoyoos. This southern Okanagan area is home to Canada's only pocket desert. With some of the most spectacular views in the Okanagan, this region is well known for its long, hot summer days and cool nights, mild winters and minimum rainfall. Today, we remember the children who never came home from residential schools, honour the Survivors, and recognize the families and communities who continue to carry the impact of that history.

For us, Truth and Reconciliation is not about looking back for one day. It is about understanding what happened, listening to Survivors and Indigenous communities, and carrying that knowledge forward.

There is still much to learn, and much work to do. Today, we take time to listen, reflect and remember.

Nk’Mip Cellars is situated on Osoyoos Indian Band land, and that connection comes with a responsibility to listen, learn and continue to understand the history of the land and the people who have cared for it since time immemorial.

This week, we’re making space for Indigenous voices and stories that help us better understand the truth of residential schools and their lasting impact.
