Strength, leadership, and deep connection to the land define Inuvialuit culture—and continue to shape the North today. On Inuvialuit Day, we recognize the history, knowledge, and contributions of the Inuvialuit people, and we honour the vision set out in the Inuvialuit Final Agreement.

Our work across Canada’s northern regions is guided by respectful collaboration and by the insights shared through Indigenous partnerships. Inuvialuit communities play a vital role in safeguarding the land, supporting northern sovereignty, and creating opportunities for future generations.

We are grateful for the partnerships, expertise, and cultural leadership that continue to influence how we operate in the North.

June is National Indigenous History Month—a time to recognize the cultures, histories, and contributions of Inuit, First Nations, and Métis Peoples across Canada. It is an opportunity to reflect on the depth and diversity of Indigenous communities, as well as the enduring presence of Indigenous knowledge, languages, and traditions. Across generations, these histories and contributions continue to shape communities, ways of life, and connections to the land.

At the 41st Graduation Ceremony at Nunavut Sivuniksavut, we had the honour of presenting two deserving and hard-working graduating students with the Nasittuq scholarship.

This milestone reflects the completion of another year of academic, personal, and cultural learning. The award recognizes student effort and achievement as they move into next steps, including employment, further education, or returning home to contribute within their communities.

This award is part of our support for Inuit-led education and contributes to opportunities for students as they transition beyond graduation.

On Red Dress Day, Nasittuq honours Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ people, and we stand in solidarity with the families, communities, and Nations carrying this grief.

Across the North, we are reminded that safety, dignity, and visibility are foundational to strong communities. This day strengthens our commitment to operating with respect, cultural awareness, and responsibility in every region where we work.

We encourage reflection, learning, and ongoing support for the voices leading the path toward justice and healing.

Today, on the National Day of Mourning, we take a moment to pause and reflect on the lives lost, and the injuries and illnesses suffered, as a result of workplace incidents across Canada.

At Nasittuq, this day holds real meaning. Our people work in demanding and remote environments, and the safety and well‑being of every individual is deeply personal—to their families, their teammates, and our communities. Today is a reminder that behind every statistic is a person, and behind every worker is someone waiting for them to come home.

We honour those who have been lost, support those who continue to feel the impact, and renew our shared commitment to looking out for one another—every shift, every task, every day.

We remember. We care. We stay vigilant.

Recently, members of the CMO had the opportunity to visit the North Warning System (NWS) North Bay site for an insightful and hands‑on experience.

The group had the opportunity to tour the Short Range Radar Detachment (SRD), Support Depot, and Control Centre, gaining firsthand insight into the people, infrastructure, and operations that support this critical mission. These visits are an important opportunity to showcase the expertise on site and strengthen connections across our organizations.

Thank you to the North Bay team for hosting, sharing your knowledge, and highlighting the important work being done every day in support of the NWS.
