There’s something about the sun breaking through the trees and lighting up a cracked road that feels like leadership to me. 🌅

Not perfect.
Not smooth.
Still moving forward anyway.

Strong leaders don’t wait for perfect conditions before they keep going.

🌅 Where are you waiting for things to be perfect or feel easier before taking the next step?

🌅 What feels cracked, but is still carrying you forward?

🌅 How are you leading when the path ahead isn’t fully clear?

There’s something powerful about working in an industry where grit matters. 🚜

Where showing up, pushing through and being resilient are critical.

If I’m honest… that’s one of the reasons I love the construction industry and the thousands of leaders I’ve had the privilege to meet, teach, coach and work with.

So when I saw this shirt I knew I just had to snag it! Laughs aside, “this is not a drill” feels fitting for leadership in our industry too. 🔨

Leadership isn’t theoretical when you’re responsible for people, culture, trust, safety, growth, and results.

It’s real. It’s human. 👷🏻‍♀️

It’s showing up consistently, building trust, having hard conversations, adjusting and leading well when pressure is high.

And honestly… that’s where some of the best leaders are built.

🔨 What’s one leadership trait you believe matters most in high-pressure industries?

🔨 What does leadership look like when things aren’t polished or easy?

My 18 year old gave me this little “World’s Greatest Mother” trophy, and I laugh because “The Greatest?!?”…I know I’m not perfect in any way. Not even close. 🏆

In fact, in many of my training sessions and keynotes, I tell stories where my motherhood is absolutely in question. 😏

The moments I lost patience.
The times I got it wrong.
The parenting decisions I wish I could redo.

But leadership isn’t about perfection.

It’s about self-awareness. 🏆
It’s about humility. 🏆
It’s about saying you’re wrong and that you can do better. 🏆
It’s about being willing to learn, repair, grow, and keep showing up.

The leaders who impact us the most usually aren’t the ones pretending to have it all together…

…they’re the ones willing to be real enough for others to be great.

🏆 What’s one lesson life has taught you about leadership that no textbook ever could?

🏆 How could your leadership change if you allowed yourself to be more authentic instead of more polished?

I took this picture this morning. 📸

If you zoom in, you’ll see a deer quietly standing in the distance. Blending in. 🦌

Most people would focus on the sunrise, the yard or my dogs… and never notice it.

That’s true in leadership too.
But strong leaders…they notice. They search. They pay attention.

They sense the shift in energy before the conflict.
The quiet team member with something valuable to say.
The person struggling before their performance drops.
The opportunities hidden in plain sight.

Awareness is a leadership skill.

🦌 What are you noticing that others might be missing?

🦌 Where could you look beyond the obvious for more?

After 16 months of injury, I ran again.
Almost 3 km. Slowly, carefully, gratefully. 🏃‍♀️

What struck me most wasn’t the distance. It was the courage it took to start again.

Leadership isn’t always about pushing harder or moving faster. Sometimes it’s about rebuilding confidence, trusting yourself again, and being willing to begin before you feel fully ready.

In my coaching work, I see this often. The strongest leaders aren’t the ones who avoid setbacks…they’re the ones willing to step back into the arena after them.

Today was a reminder that small steps still count.

🏃‍♀️ What have you been waiting to restart?

🏃‍♀️ Where has fear of “not being where you used to be” kept you stuck?

🏃‍♀️ What would change if you gave yourself permission to begin again slowly?

Mother’s Day always reminds me that leadership starts long before a title ever does. 🌸

These two have taught me so much about patience, adaptability, resilience, and unconditional love. And honestly, they’ve made me a better coach, leader, and human.

One of the greatest leadership lessons I’ve learned is people grow best when they feel safe, supported, and truly seen.

So grateful to be their mom. 🌸

🌸 Who in your life helped shape the leader you are today?

🌸 What everyday moments are quietly shaping your leadership legacy?

Some of the best relationships aren’t built on frequency… they’re built on foundation.

We don’t see each other all the time.
Life is full, schedules are busy.

But when we do? 😁
It’s easy. Genuine. Like no time has passed.

That kind of connection doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built on trust, shared values, and showing up fully when it matters.

In leadership, it’s the same.

It’s not about constant contact… it’s about meaningful connection!

😊 Who are the relationships in your life or leadership that don’t require constant attention, but are deeply rooted in trust?

😊 When you do connect with your team, are you fully present… or just checking a box?

😊 Are your relationships built on frequency… or on consistency and authenticity?

😊 Where might you be over-valuing “how often” and under-valuing “how meaningful”?

At first glance, this pine bug looks a little… off. 🌲🪳

Not polished. Not perfectly balanced.

But it’s moving. Adjusting. Making it work.

That’s leadership. 😊

It won’t always look how you imagined.
It won’t always feel smooth.

In my coaching and leadership development work at West Reach Development, I help leaders stop waiting to feel “ready” and start moving, adjusting, and leading with what they’ve got.

Because progress beats polish. Every time.

🌲🪳Where are you waiting instead of going?

Let’s connect!

Yesterday at the Ottawa Construction Association Symposium, I had the chance to show up as both a speaker and an exhibitor.

My post-conference reflection…🤔

💡 Connections aren’t just about meeting new people. Some of the most valuable moments came from reconnecting with people I already know…strengthening trust, picking up where we left off, and deepening relationships.

💡 Having a booth changes the game…but maybe not in the way we think. Yes, it’s a home base. But it’s also a reminder that the real value often happens outside of it, in conversations, in curiosity, and in being willing to step away from the table.

💡 I didn’t need the game I planned. Turns out, genuine conversation beats a “hook” every time. People don’t need to be pulled in, they need to feel seen, heard, and like the interaction matters…so I ditched it!

💡 Referring people to others is never a loss. Some of the best conversations ended with, “You should go talk to…” When you focus on helping people find the right connection, not just keeping them for yourself, you build credibility that lasts longer than any pitch.

💡 And a personal one…having my husband there, representing his company, mattered more than I expected. Not just because of the support, but because it gave me the freedom to step away, circulate, and fully engage. That kind of partnership? It makes a difference.

Biggest takeaway…

It’s not about how many conversations you have. It’s about how you show up in the ones that matter.

To everyone that attended my session, took something away, stopped by my booth, shook my hand, gave me a hug, gave me a high five, left their card, took mine, told someone about me, tagged me in their own conference reflection post, is thinking of reaching out and wants to work with me in the future…THANK YOU!!! 🙏
