This video isn’t meant to start a debate about how many breaks the research says people need during a presentation.
I’ve read the research. I know the corporate standard.
My point is different.
It’s about treating adults like adults and creating an environment where people can manage their own needs without stopping the entire room to accommodate the “average.”
Need to stand up? Stand up.
Need to use the washroom? Go.
Need water or a coffee? Grab it.
You don’t need permission to stretch.
When people have invested significant time and money to be in the room, I believe we have a responsibility to maximize the value of that time.
Sometimes that means challenging the conventional format. Sometimes it means staying in the work when the room is locked in, rather than interrupting momentum because the schedule says it’s time for a break.
The goal isn’t to push people for the sake of pushing them.
The goal is to create the conditions for deep work, meaningful breakthroughs, and the kind of progress that actually moves the needle.
