We often think tension is just a physical problem.
A tight hip.
A stiff neck.
A sore back.
Heavy shoulders.
But sometimes the body is carrying something deeper.
Recently, one of my students shared this with me:
“When I recognized that childhood frustration could be the root cause of my hip inflammation and dealt with it, my hip has ever since been peaceful.”
That stopped me in my tracks.
Now, I’m not saying every ache, pain, or tension pattern is emotional.
But I am saying that our bodies and emotions are deeply connected.
Unprocessed frustration.
Long-held grief.
Stress.
Fear.
Sadness.
These experiences don’t simply disappear because we ignore them.
Often, they linger in the nervous system and show up in the body as tension, fatigue, restlessness, or discomfort.
This is one of the reasons I love Yin Yoga.
Not because it “fixes” us.
But because it creates space to listen.
To soften.
To feel.
To notice what our body has been trying to tell us all along.
✨ Sometimes the release isn’t just physical.
✨ Sometimes it’s emotional.
✨ Sometimes it’s both.
Have you ever noticed a connection between your emotions and physical tension?
I’d love to hear your experience in the comments. 🤍
