If the Pilates ball is among them, how are you feeling?

The Pilates ball—aka the squishy ball—is definitely a fan favourite around here. You’ll spot it often in our classes, used to both challenge and support.

It’s a simple way to add instability that asks your muscles to step up, helping to engage our core, while also offering just enough support to keep things doable. Perfect for building strength, balance, and stability.

If you’ve been in a class with , you’ve probably used it in Bear. Or maybe you’ve taken a Burn with Amy and tested your balance with the ball under one knee.

Grab your best glitter. You’re invited to Sweat, Slay, and celebrate Pride with us.

Join us Saturday, August 9th from 1–3PM for Sweat, Slay, Repeat; a pilates workshop and social celebrating Pride week.

We’ll kick things off with a spicy 45-minute Burn class led by Brynn O’Dwyer, paired with a high-energy, Pride-approved playlist (dancing optional but likely).

Then stick around for a post-class mixer with bubbles (alcoholic and non) provided, and amazing, engaging drag performances by Shea Muah and Yeti

Join us in saying welcome to the Mat Lab community, Brynn ☀️

Brynn’s lifelong passion for movement began with her years as a competitive hockey player. She dedicated much of her childhood and adulthood to hockey, earning a scholarship to play at a collegiate level while completing her undergraduate degree in Health Promotion.

Her fitness journey eventually led her to Pilates, a practice that shifted her focus from performance-driven goals to one rooted in wellness and mindful movement. This discovery started her passion for designing anatomy-informed workouts that challenge both the body and mind.

Brynn’s mission is to inspire others to cultivate a movement practice that helps them feel strong, supported, and connected to their bodies—all while embracing the joy that movement can bring.

Welcoming some new faces to the Mat Lab! Move with Kyanna Sunday mornings for Power Yoga, 12pm in the Glebe.

Kyanna is a Jamaican Canadian yoga instructor from Ottawa with 7 years of practice and a 350-hour YTT certification from Union 108, the first Black female-owned studio in the Ottawa Valley. She is an instructor at many studios in Ottawa and loves teaching a variety of different styles.

She enjoys blending Hatha and Vinyasa yoga into unique, dynamic flows, using brain tickling music and breath to create a powerful connection between mind and body. Passionate about inclusivity, she creates a welcoming space where students of all levels can embrace their individuality and thrive on and off the mat. Her teaching style celebrates the rich history of yoga and its’ transformative power to heal and empower communities.

Whether you’re familiar with the practice or just beginning your journey into movement, Kyanna will provide options for every type of body so you can leave feeling accomplished. Her goal is to empower you to embrace your individuality, live authentically, and celebrate every moment on and off the mat.

👉Our Post-Natal Pilates Program kicks off next week. Each of the four sessions is tailored to support postpartum recovery and help you rebuild strength.

👉Mat Pilates for Seniors! Designed to build strength, improve mobility, and boost confidence in a supportive environment. Wednesdays at 11am at Mat Lab Beechwood, starts Feb 19.

👉Family Day Yoga: Get the whole family moving with our $5 drop in yoga this family day and experience yoga in a supportive and playful environment.
