Few things that stuck with me during & after that conversation

🔸️Freezing once eggs can cost as much as $30k in Canada.

🔸️Buying a s***m for artificial insemination only costs ~ $500, which is a much cheaper option

🔸️Until you're 38, you don't really need to panic, but ideally, at 35, you should start thinking of your options if you want kids.

🔸️Some people are okay with having kids with someone knowing that they might not be together forever because it's cheaper than freezing eggs & IVF.

🔸️I have no reason to panic at 30, but he was very impressed by the fact that I'm thinking ahead but chastised me for worrying so much because "I'll call him soon that I'm pregnant"

🔸️Freezing your eggs is frequently repeated as advice to single women, but no one shares the costs of doing so.

🔸️I learned that I want to be a mum

Which makes me wonder. Are there people who have frozen their eggs and got it done at a reasonable price. If so. Where, how much, and at what age did they start considering this?

Don't forget a copy of the bio data page of your passport & the express post envelope (I forgot to mention that in the video).

🔅Here's a list of what I needed.

◇Appointment slip
◇Application printout
◇Payment receipt page
◇Confirmation that NIN matches name and DOB on your passport (ask a friend in Nigeria to help you check. Bankers can help confirm the details).
◇One passport photograph
◇Expired/Expiring passport.
◇$50 Money order
◇ Passport bio data page
◇ Express post envelope (Regional if you're from Ontario or National from outside of Ontatio)
◇A pen to write your address on the envelope

Compared to 4 years ago, when I went to help a friend get his passport, the process is so much smoother now. I arrived there at 8:30 am, doors opened at 9 am. I was out of there by 9:30 am.

Mostly because made sure I had everything in a folder the night before. This girl is gonna be the best mama to some lucky humans 🥰
