More than one in four employed young Canadians works in tourism.

Between April and June, tourism welcomed 127,800 more young workers, increasing the sector's share of youth employment from 26.4% to 27.3%. And these numbers come before many high school students had started their summer jobs.

Tourism is where countless careers begin.

Whether it's a first job at a restaurant, hotel, attraction, campground, event, or travel business, young people gain more than a paycheque. They build confidence, learn to work as part of a team, solve problems, communicate with customers, and develop skills they'll use for the rest of their careers—no matter where those careers take them.

With opportunities in every community across Canada, tourism opens doors for the next generation of workers.
