Tourism HR Canada is a national organization working to identify and address labour market issues in the Canadian tourism sector. Its main goals include improving the quality and mobility of the tourism workforce and supplying tourism businesses with the labour market intelligence they need to plan for and overcome their current and future human resource challenges. Tourism HR Canada is recognized as a global leader in setting occupational standards, building competency frameworks, developing occupational training and certification programs under the emerit brand, conducting research into the tourism labour market, and analyzing the resulting data to plan and implement HR strategies for the industry. In addition, Tourism HR Canada performs consulting services for all sectors in occupational training and instructional design, assessment tools and certification programs, human resource planning and strategy, and labour market research and analysis. Our team has worked with private companies, educational organizations, professional associations, and all levels of government, both in Canada and internationally.

Canada’s workforce is changing, and no single sector can navigate that change alone.

Today, Tourism HR Canada joins the National Sectoral Workforce Development Councils and workforce leaders from across the country in Ottawa for the inaugural National Workforce Leadership Summit, bringing together industry, government, educators, and workforce partners to examine shared priorities, including workforce resilience, AI adoption, skills development, and labour mobility.

For more than 30 years, workforce development councils have helped employers, governments, and partners build the talent pipelines Canada’s economy depends on. Representing industries that employ roughly half of Canada’s workforce, we believe the challenges ahead, from shifting skill requirements to emerging technologies, call for coordinated, cross-sector solutions, not isolated ones.

Tourism HR Canada is proud to stand alongside colleagues from manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, electricity, mining, biotechnology, and beyond in this work.

We’re seeking passionate leaders who want to contribute their expertise to setting strategic leadership, overseeing organizational performance and financial stewardship, ensuring legal and ethical compliance, and acting in the best interests of the organization and its mission.

If you’re committed to growing a resilient, competitive, and inclusive tourism workforce, we’d love to hear from you.
