What a welcoming place and incredible opportunity to speak! To all....your Hair.Is.Sacred! 🪶

From speaking in classrooms to evening ceremonies, where I felt the community, love, and support. Participating in Opwaaganigewin Pipe ceremony, meeting Jared Bigcanoe , hearing Elders speak and teach....much needed for the spirit!

Sometimes a man, a father, trying to do it all, needs to meet and chill with men who have, and are still, doing it all....learning, growing, teaching. I really appreciated meeting and spending time with Anthony Nicholas .

Last February, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Maawnjidiing Wiingushkeng Centre for Indigenous Excellence and Land Based Learning, and speak with Indigenous high school students about how our hair is sacred. 🪶

We talked about how our hair can mean many things to us, from the personal to the spiritual. How our bodies are sacred lodges, how we care for our hair, and what it means to each of us.

Most importantly, we shared knowledge. I got to hear what hair means to the students, along with traditions, teachings, and knowledge passed down through their own families and communities.

I had to hook the students and staff up with some samplers of course, to support them on their own hair journeys!

Beyond connecting with the next generation, I was grateful to participate in lodge ceremonies and listen to the wisdom and teachings of visiting Elders. I came away having learned so much myself.

A big Chi-Miigwech to Sharon Sharon Rigby for inviting me to speak, and to the Centre for welcoming me into your space.

I hope the students took away something meaningful from our conversations, something to carry with them as they continue to grow, learn, and walk their own journeys.

Odawa Jiingtamok 2026! This Pow Wow holds a special place for Savagebear Indigenous Creations....where was first released...or should I say Unleashed!😆 what a journey connecting with the community, genuine people, and those on their own business endeavours! Miigwech Odawa Native Friendship Centre and all who support this Papa Bear😎

Finally met and gifted Haley Robinson some hair oil at Odawa Pow-Wow in May. The journey continues...supporting community and young warriors on their long hair journey, meeting all sorts of hearty people, and also meeting those who truly had an impact on your life. Haley has been one of them, providing funnies and awareness on many topics, including the Q***r community, human rights, mixed race/Indigenous struggles, and reconnecting journeys. They were so sweet, genuine, and thankful when we met. Keep on being Deadleh Haley 🪶🏳️‍🌈🇵🇭💅🏻

Meeting Brooke Metchewais Miss Indigenous Canada 2026 at Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation Jiingtamok!! 🪶

Sometimes as vendors, we can be a little removed from the drums and dancing, the community and main events. Brooke taking the time to stop by the vendor tables, learn about what we're doing, and connect with us, meant a lot.

We were able to talk about the power in our hair, keeping it healthy, and the importance in supporting those on their long hair journey, especially the young warriors.

Last summer...out of nowhere, I met this guy! Brett Mooswa . Had some good laughs and tried to out-Stoic him 😆 still working on it. What a crazy world and journey meeting so many different people and communities. Brett and his content, both comedy and non-comedic, truly helped this Bear through troubled and hard times. Then late one night at Thunderchild, I get to meet him, chill, even hook him up with a pre-release jar of Makade Night. Good stuff man! Keep'er Deadly!!😎🔥🔥

How Blessed am I!! To be able to braid my Ogichidaakwe's....my little warriors! Every day is a blessing, I tell them. We are not what happened to us....we are what we choose to be! Such power in those little braids. Indinawemaaganidog🪶
