PODCAST SHOW NOTES VS. A PODCAST BLOGโฆWhich option is better??
If youโre a podcaster, you probably realize you need to have SOME form of written content to accompany your podcast and put on your site.
Maybe youโve seen some content creators who create bulleted show notes, and others who create detailed, long-form blog postsโฆbut youโre not sure what the better option is!
Yes, writing out a full-length blog post is a bit more workโฆbut itโs so much more valuable in my opinion!
Why, you ask?
1๏ธโฃ BLOG POSTS ARE BETTER FOR SEO. Yes, show notes are better than nothing for SEO, but those 300-word show notes are quite honestly not doing a whole lot for your site. Google values detailed, long-form content, formatted with paragraphs and headings. Those bullet points arenโt quite cutting it and probably wonโt rank against long-form blogposts.
2๏ธโฃ BLOG POSTS ARE BETTER FOR PINTEREST. Yes, you can totally create pins for your podcast episodes and try to get listeners from Pinterest. But the reality is, MOST of the content pinned to Pinterest is blogs. Itโs what Pinners are usually in the mood for. If they click on your content and realize itโs a 40-minute podcast, they might leave without clicking anything, increasing your siteโs bounce rate.
3๏ธโฃ BLOG POSTS ARE MORE VERSATILE. When you embed your podcast content AND have the option to read the blog just below, youโre giving potential ideal clients more options. If theyโre in a rush and just want to skim the content and get the most valuable points, they can do that. If they have some time on their hands and want to listen to the entire podcast, they can do that too! Whichever way they like to consume their content, youโre giving them the OPTION to do so.
