Do you know how to properly store and transport your CO₂ tank?

Whether it's for your kegerator, home carbonation system, aquarium, or another application, a few simple habits can help keep your CO₂ cylinder in good condition.

Keep it upright and secured, protect the valve, keep it away from excessive heat and direct sunlight, and make sure it can't roll around when you're transporting it.

And don't forget: hydrostatic testing is required every five years.

Found an old CO₂ tank in the garage? Before you load it up for a refill, check the stamped test date on the shoulder. If it's overdue, it needs to be requalified before it can be filled. If you're unsure what the markings mean, send us a clear photo and we'll help you read them.

CO₂ isn't just what pushes b**r through the line. Its quality can affect flavour, foam and how b**r feels in the glass. The Brewers Association has a good explainer here. Did you know CO₂ could make that much difference?

As with any b**r ingredient, CO2 quality is essential to finished b**r quality, contributing to sensory outcomes, b**r foam, mouthfeel, and shelf stability.

DON’T EVER DO THIS WITH YOUR CO₂ TANK.

Never try to repair, replace or modify the valve yourself. That cylinder is under pressure, and the wrong fitting or a damaged valve can turn a small problem into a dangerous one.

If your tank is leaking or something doesn’t look right, leave it alone and contact a qualified CO₂ service shop. You can send us a photo if you’re unsure what you’re looking at.
