Another sighting has been confirmed. 👀

An unusually large mayfly has appeared at Cobblestone Common.

Its origins remain unknown, but sightings along the river are becoming increasingly difficult to explain.

Keep your eyes open, Paris. Something is stirring.

Remembering Salah Bachir (1955–2026)

Downtown Paris joins our community in mourning the loss of Salah Bachir, an extraordinary philanthropist, passionate supporter of the arts, and generous friend to our town.

Although Salah’s remarkable generosity was felt across Canada, Paris held a special place in his heart.

Over the years, he quietly supported so many of the things that make our community special. He and Jacob helped bring holiday magic to downtown, supported our community Christmas tree lighting, and contributed generously to The Willett Hospital, where his donated artwork continues to brighten the walls and his Christmas decorations have brought joy to patients, visitors, and staff.

His generosity also supported the Cowan Community Health Hub and the Woodland Cultural Centre, where he championed the preservation and celebration of Indigenous history, art, and culture.

In recognition of his contributions, the Paris dam will be illuminated orange at 8:30pm tonight, in his honour.

Salah’s legacy can be seen throughout our community, not simply in the things he gave, but in the care he showed for the place and people he loved.

On behalf of the Downtown Paris BIA, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his husband, Jacob Yerex, his family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him.

Thank you, Salah, for loving Paris as much as we do. ❤️

What a beautiful day in Downtown Paris, Ontario!

The sun was shining, the patios and ice cream parlours are still open and we welcomed so many visitors and lovely locals into our stores, restaurants, boutiques and cafés.

Come visit the Cobblestone Capital of Canada, one of the prettiest towns in Ontario and a small town with charm, culture and charisma; a perfect way to spend a day with friends, family or for a Fall solo day trip!
