Eaves trough is the most inexpensive and best way to keep water away from your foundation. Here is some info I hope you find helpful.
Clogged gutters are one of the most common problems we find.
Causes
The causes are most often leaves or needles from overhanging trees. Occasionally, clogged gutters are the result of a misplaced tennis ball or roofing or chimney work above
Screens On Gutters
Screening installed on the top of gutters to keep debris out is sometimes successful. There are several screening systems. However, in many cases, the screening falls into the gutter and traps leaves and twigs. In this case, the gutters actually clog more quickly.
Disadvantages
Some of the screening materials can result in overshoot of water over the gutters. Another disadvantage is that clogged gutters with screening are more difficult to clean.
Implications
Clogged gutters are common and while it is just a maintenance recommendation to suggest cleaning on a regular basis, the nonperformance of gutters can result in considerable damage.
Strategy
Look over the entire length of the system for clogged gutters, if possible. Clogs are often, but not always, at downspouts. You need to be above the gutters either on a ladder or on the roof. It’s safer, especially on steep roofs, to look from a ladder, but it takes a lot longer to look at the entire gutter system this way.
Understand the Implications
I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping gutters clear. Although cleaning gutters is nobody's idea of a fun afternoon, there are serious implications of neglect. Flooded basements and foundation damage can result from neglected gutters.
