When your 9-year-old nephew starts his OWN hockey streetwear brand, you become the walking advertisement. 🧢🏒❤️ Auntie duties!

My brothers and I grew up as rink rats. Hockey has always been in our blood. My brother David, Gunnar’s dad, was an incredible hockey player who loved this game with his whole heart.

Now, Gunnar is chasing his own hockey dreams with Rink Rat Streetwear creating T-shirts for people who eat, sleep, and breathe hockey, just like we did growing up.

I wish my brother could be here to see this. 🥹🕊️ I know he would be SO incredibly proud of the little entrepreneur his son is becoming. I’ll always be cheering him on for both of us.

It’s more than a brand. It’s a family tradition, a shared love for the game, and a little piece of his dad that Gunnar gets to carry with him every time he hits the ice.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we’re listening, learning, and amplifying Indigenous voices.
I had the immense honour of taking headshots for Elaine Alec a Syilx/ Secwépemc author, political advisor, and community planner.
Elaine’s vital work focuses on decolonization and healing intergenerational trauma through her Cultivating Safe Spaces framework. Her newest book, Coming of Age: Overcoming Trauma to Achieve Self-Determination, blends ancestral teachings with a roadmap for personal and collective healing.

At 82, she was stepping in front of a camera for the first time, allowing herself to be seen, celebrated, and photographed simply for the beauty of who she is.

It made me think about how often we tell ourselves we’re too old, it’s too late, or there’s no reason to celebrate ourselves anymore.

But there is.

There is always time to create beautiful memories. There is always time to see yourself through a different lens. And there is always a reason to celebrate the woman you’ve become.

I feel incredibly grateful that she trusted me to capture this moment in her life.
