Yesterday marked the start of Canadian Environment Week, so we’re taking a moment to reflect on the land we live with, farm, and depend on.
At Little Engine, sustainability begins in the vineyard.
Long before a bottle reaches the table, we’re thinking about the health of our soil, the life between the rows, and the future of the land we’re lucky enough to farm.
Through manual w**d control, roughly 320 tonnes of compost each year, and carefully chosen cover crops, we work to support soil stability, encourage pollinators, and create a vineyard that is not only productive, but alive.
Sweet Elysium, clover, Braco mustard, wildflower mix, and lacy phacelia all have a role to play here.
Because for us, sustainability is not a side note. It is part of the work, part of the wine, and part of our responsibility to the Okanagan.
This week, we’re raising a glass to the land, and to the thoughtful choices that help protect it.
