Hi everyone!
Very long time no post and I apologize for that!
As of right now I’m restricting the pups I sit, my assistant (Hartley) is having some behaviour issues we are working through, not at all with dogs but some things on his own, if you inquire about sitting we can absolutely chat about it, as of right now if someone needs a sitter I will have to do an introduction with Hartley first, as well as a trial in your home as I can’t take any sitting in my home. I have also taken on a job with longer hours therefor meaning I can absolutely stay with your pups overnight but may be gone from 9-6 some days! I’m hoping to eventually be able to get back into some sitting but for now am very much limiting things! I am always open to doing check ins when I’m not working and if our pups get along well some play dates too!!

Hi All!!
I have some news to share with everyone!
We have a new furry friend to add to the team, introducing Hartley!!
This boy is my little assistant!!
If I am watching your pups for any more than one night he will have to come with, If our pups don’t get along that’s ok!! I can send you other resources and recommend the best places!
As for my meet and greets now, we will have two, one with just me and your dog to see if we are compatible, one with your dog and Hartley to see if things would work out with them!
If we already have pre-existing bookings I will reach out to help you schedule things with someone else or do another meet and greet with Hartley and your lovely pups!!

Muzzles
Controversial topic that makes everyone want to scroll away, reality is Muzzles are all about owners choice and safety and whether you chose for your dog to use them or not I’m here to talk about the benefits, properly fitting one and why they need to properly fit and help find the best one for your dog if you chose to muzzle train!!

Muzzles can be used for many different reasons and although people go straight to the assumption that they are aggressive, that’s not always the case, they can be used for fearful dogs, chronic p**p or garbage eaters, making certain an introduction goes well and nobody gets hurt etc.

A properly fitted muzzle needs to be comfortable, this means having enough room for your dog to pant and cool down, yawn to decompress and drink through the muzzle. Properly fitted muzzles are mainly for the purpose of aggression, fear and eating things they shouldn’t. For a 15 minute nail trim a cloth muzzle is okay and will do what you need it to do.

Below is a picture of a dog with a properly fitted muzzle, it may look big however this is to give space for panting and yawning which are both crucial, for help finding a properly fitted muzzle, advice on whether or not a muzzle would help your dog or help with muzzle training message me to chat!

Hey Everyone!!
Spring is here which means there are lots of new things for your pups to explore and also lots of things owners need to be aware of, over the next few days I’ll be posting some informative posts on some of these things, Starting with:

Kennel Cough
Just like the human cold, it happens! Kennel Cough (also known as Bordetella) is a contagious illness that can cause coughing, hacking, irritation to the throat, discharge from the nose and/or eyes, slight fever, loss of appetite and sneezing. As bad as this may sound it usually only lasts about 7-10 days. To make this lesser the Bordetella vaccine is a great idea for all pups that will be around other dogs (even if it’s just your friends dog the odd time, you don’t know where they have been!

To prevent kennel cough I only care for 1 family at a time and if there are symptoms I let owners know right away! My car’s seats are sprayed with a Lysol spray to disinfect and any dog that has been in my home MUST be symptom free and vaccinated

If your dog shows symptoms and ends up with kennel cough some great ways to soothe the throat is Honey, you can dissolve this in hot water, cool the water and then give it to them or feed it to them in their food, kongs or just off a spoon. Pineapple Juice helps with inflammation, you can freeze this in an ice cube tray and give it to them as treats, put this in a lick mat, add it to their kong etc.

Remember if your dog starts to show symptoms, keep them away from any dogs until the symptoms are fully gone, this means no daycare, no boarding, no play dates. Puzzles are a great way to keep your dog entertained during this period!!

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone including their furry loved ones are doing okay after the storm!!

From the looks of it there is another wave headed into some of our local areas in the early hours of the morning.

Some things that may help your anxious pups with this are soothing music, something to chew, being close to you and as many distractions possible (puzzles, kongs, search games etc.)!

Remember all dogs are different and the same thing doesn’t work for all dogs, try different things and find what works for you and your pup!

Stay Safe!!
