A reminder that the fuel dock will be closed Wednesday, September 30 to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It will reopen for Thursday and Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.

So cool to see the Humpback Whale in the upper harbour this morning. Hopefully it likes it here and we see it again!

If you're on the water, make sure you stay at least 100 metres away from it (or any Humpback), or if it appears in front of you, stop immediately and shut down your motor if possible until you know it's past the legal distance from you.

Even with her bow jutting 10 feet past the end of our dock, the Viking Storm takes up over half our 160 feet of dock frontage!

For a vessel this size, taking a large quantity of diesel at 240 Litres per minute, being able to connect our nozzle directly to the ship creates a much safer refueling.

With the majority of commercial and recreational fisheries rapidly winding down, we have shifted our hours of operation to our off-season schedule. We are now open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. We are closed weekends and holidays. Thanks all for a great summer!

It's been a busy week with commercial gillnet boats fueling up to leave for home, the Bute Inlet Chum fishery, or staying and fishing the Alberni Harbour openings, so this post is somewhat quite belated!

We wanted to thank everyone who came in during the Labour Day weekend and the Alberni Valley Tyee Club derby. Your support over the past 10 years has been what got us here, and we're very grateful.

We also want to thank Enex Fuels for their support. Though they've only been our fuel supplier for the past year, their commitment to us allowed us to offer the discount on fuel that was applied to every purchase this past weekend.

And finally, congratulations to Derek Little on winning the derby grand prize! We'll done!

Today's Alberni Valley Tyee Club Derby winner is out there somewhere!

Fisher's were greeted by a foggy morning to start the day, and it's been another slow start, but it will pick up as the day progresses.

It's our 10th year in business and we're grateful to each and every one of you. Our fuel is 15 cents per litre off, we have $10 packs of Anchovies, and all our tackle is discounted 15% as a small way to show our appreciation for your support; from buying our fuel to simply liking one of Facebook posts.

It's been a slow start to fishing today but that just means that, currently, any fish weighed in has the potential to win the day or entire Alberni Valley Tyee Club derby!

Good luck to all fishermen and women and we hope to see you at the fuel dock to personally thank you for your support which has helped us get to our 10th year in business on the Port Alberni waterfront!

The commercial gillnet fishery is on tonight from 8 PM until 5 AM tomorrow morning. Keep a close eye for nets, lights, boats, etc. if you are heading out on the water early tomorrow morning.

The salmon will have the rest of the week to regroup, and the cooler weather might help draw more fish into the inlet as they head towards the river. Hopefully that combination makes for a fun and exciting Alberni Valley Tyee Club derby this coming weekend!

In the Spring of 2016 we began the construction of Port Alberni Marine Fuels and Services Ltd. after working with the Port Alberni Port Authority to create a space at Tyee Landing for a marine fuel dock. We opened for business on the Labour Day weekend of that year. We started off slowly, but have grown into a Port Alberni waterfront fixture because of you, our customers; people we consider friends and family.

Here we are at the ten year mark of being the premiere fuel provider to the Port Alberni and West Coast boating community. We've since rebranded to Orca Marine Fuel & Supply, and will continue to grow the business in the direction guided by the demands of our recreational and commercial customer base.

To mark this amazing milestone in our history, we are taking the opportunity to give back to you to show our appreciation! With the generous support of Enex Fuels, during this coming Labour Day Weekend, and during the 2026 Alberni Valley Tyee Club Salmon Derby, we're offering 15 cents per litre off both gas and diesel, along with sale prices on our fishing tackle and frozen bait!
