From lending a hand wherever it’s needed before showtime to soaking in the magic from the sound booth, she’s all about great crew vibes and unforgettable behind-the-scenes energy, get to know Jenna, Five Acre Co. Volunteer!

Q: When the doors open at a Five Acre Co. event, where are we most likely to find you?
Before a show starts, I am all over the place doing whatever I can to help in any way! When a show commences, I'm most likely back by the sound booth with the greatest view to admire everything that comes to fruition.

Q: How many seasons have you been part of the Five Acre Co family?
I have been volunteering with Five Acre for 1 year now!

Q: What keeps you coming back to volunteer at a Five Acre Co event?
The crew hands down! Best group of people I've had the honour of knowing.

Q: What was your favourite show to volunteer at?
My favourite and FIRST show to volunteer at was Cameron Whitcomb, The Shindigs, and Quadra Sound. Starting with that show was an insane introduction to behind the scenes. Seeing it all come together was one for the books; it was an experience ill hold on to for a lifetime!

Q: Describe the Five Acre vibe in three words:
Inclusive, encouraging, and a hell of a good time!

Master of the cash floats, keeper of the inventory, and the crucial behind-the-scenes force from setup to wrap-up, get to know Coral, a day-one player of Five Acre Co!

Q: What does your day-to-day actually look like?
My day-to-day revolves around managing the financial engine behind the scenes. I handle everything from processing invoices, payables, and payroll to tracking revenues and expenses across our shows, rentals, and productions. I also keep on top of reconciliations, tax remittances, and grant and sponsorship records to make sure our cash flow is healthy, and everything balances out smoothly.

Q: What does your role look like during a Five Acre Co event?
When the show starts, you might spot me around taking in the music, but my main work happens on the bookends of the night! Before the doors open, I’m getting the team set up by delivering the cash floats, and once the show closes, I’m wrapping up the financial details and completing the bar inventory reports.

Q: How long have you been a part of the Five Acre Co. family?
Every last one of them!

Q: What's the one thing that keeps you coming back to event planning season after season?
It's a "family" affair. It’s great to get a front row seat to watch my son fulfill his passion. I’m extremely proud of the whole Five Acre family.

Q: What is a "secret" about your job that the crowd never sees?
Long before the stage lights go up and well after the music stops, I'm diving into the job costing and profitability reports for every single show. It takes a ton of meticulous behind-the-scenes tracking, from sponsorship arrangements to granular gear rentals, to keep our productions audit-ready, compliant, and ready to roll for the next season.

Q: What is your all-time favourite moment from a Five Acre Co Event?
Cameron Whitcomb's Hundred Mile High Tour with special guests The Shindigs and Quadra Sound.

Q: Describe the Five Acre Co vibe in just three words.

Visionary behind Five Acre Co. from Day 1, dedicated team supporter, and champion for live music in Port Alberni—get to know Lance, our Executive Director and CEO!

Q: What does your day-to-day actually look like?

Daily, I wear both hats as the CEO and Executive Director, which means I am responsible for both setting the long-term strategic vision and steering the daily ex*****on. I spend a lot of my time meeting directly with my department leads to ensure everyone is communicating, happy, and working toward our ultimate goals. My main priority is keeping the team organized and fostering a positive workspace culture where people feel supported to do their best work.

Because I hold the final operational and financial responsibility, my days are a constant balancing act between creative ambition and business reality. I collaborate with my coordinators to shape our future event line-ups, decide on talent bookings, and build out growth strategies for our venue and equipment rentals. At the same time, I manage our high-level budgeting and cash flow with the bookkeeper, sign off on major capital expenditures, and secure the grants and sponsorships needed to fund our operations. When a major contract needs approval or a department faces a high-risk roadblock, I am the ultimate decision-maker.

Q: What does your role look like during a Five Acre Co event?

When an event actually comes to life, I step back from the back-end logistics and act as the captain of the ship. My coordinators handle frontline tasks like scanning tickets, managing vendors, and running sound, which allows me to focus entirely on macro ex*****on. I spend my time walking the grounds, monitoring crowd dynamics, and ensuring the festival or show meets the high-quality, safety, and community standards that define our brand. My on-site presence is about providing high-level leadership and support where needed. If a critical emergency or logistical crisis arises, I am on the ground making the final, high-risk executive calls.

Q: How long have you been a part of the Five Acre Co. Family?

Since Day 1! The first Five Acre Shaker was hosted on my property. As we know, Shaker began as a memorial for the late Zakk Coss and has continued to grow, develop, and expand into Five Acre Co Events, Rentals, and Staging.

Q: What's the one thing that keeps you coming back to event planning season after season?

Watching Five Acre Co grow over the years is what keeps me coming back. Being able to invest in myself and the community to support the culture of live events in Port Alberni is a dream come true.

Q: What is a "secret" about your job that the crowd never sees?

The biggest secret is the sheer volume of invisible teamwork required to pull off a flawless event. When the crowd looks at the main stage, they see a flawless performance, beautiful lighting, and an effortless vibe. What they don't see are the months of intense collaboration, endless meetings, and precise coordination that happen behind the scenes, long before the gates ever open.

An event is a massive jigsaw puzzle of human relationships. My days are consumed by the constant balancing act of bringing together our internal staff, sponsors, and artists' management teams. It takes countless production huddles and meticulous planning to align it all.

If my team and I do our jobs right, the crowd never feels any of that weight. They get to experience the magic of the night, completely unaware of the massive, invisible effort that built it from scratch, which I will call a win.

Q: What is your all-time favourite moment from a Five Acre Co Event?

For myself, the moment that comes to mind is Cameron Whitcomb's Mile High Tour in July 2025. That show was an experience where I stood back, looked around, and truly felt the "we did it." The goal and dream of supporting live music in Port Alberni came true.

Air traffic controller of event logistics, master of outfit changes, and the glue keeping show day running smoothly—get to know Sara, our ultimate Events Services Coordinator!

Q: What does your day-to-day actually look like?

On a normal office day, I'm essentially the central air traffic controller for our events. A huge chunk of my time is spent building out detailed run-of-shows, coordinating with artists, updating our ticket website, and collaborating with all departments.

When I'm not buried in logistics, I shift into the programming and people side of the role. I negotiate basic contracts with artists and agents, and I build bridges between the artist's team and the Five Acre Co team. I am also actively scouting and booking performers to ensure they match the vibe and fit the budget.

Q: What does your role look like during a Five Acre Co event?

On show day, I am entirely on-site and, on my feet, acting as the main glue between the artists and front-of-house. Practically, my day is paced by the clock. I'm overseeing artist load-ins, managing soundcheck windows, ensuring technical riders and green rooms are sorted, and making sure the doors open exactly on time. While the show is live, I'm monitoring safety protocols, capacity limits, and licensing rules to keep things running smoothly.

Q: How long have you been a part of the Five Acre Co. family?

I have been a part of Five Acre Co since 2018!

Q: What's the one thing that keeps you coming back to event planning season after season?

In general, I love the music industry! It is working under pressure, providing the highest-caliber service to our community and artists. But it is also the amazing staff and volunteers I get to work besides at every event, because without the team, we could not do what we do.

Q: What is a "secret" about your job that the crowd never sees?

My one secret is that, to the crowd, the event appears to be a unified experience. Still, backstage, I am continuously translating needs between very different worlds, making sure the technical crew, security teams, volunteer leads, and artists are all perfectly in sync. Whether it's quietly adjusting the schedule mid-show to accommodate a delay, handling a last-minute hospitality request, or managing venue curfews without disrupting the energy, my job is to absorb all the chaos. Hence, the crowd only ever experiences the vibe. And my one "not so secret", that the crowd does see, is all my costume changes!!

Q: What is your all-time favourite moment from a Five Acre Co Event?

My favourite moment was the Cameron Whitcomb Mile High Tour with The Shindigs and Quadra Sound. This show stands out to me because it pushed me professionally, brought the team together in a way we had never experienced before, and it was incredible to witness the community come together with us. It truly made all the hard work worthwhile!

Q: Describe the Five Acre Co vibe in just three words.
